Dodgers | Two more prospects to Dodgers

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 09:36:44 -0800

Chicago White Sox 2B Micah Johnson and White Sox OF Trayce Thompson were acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the deal involving Cincinnati Reds 3B Todd Frazier Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson hit .315-8-36 with 28 steals at Class AAA last year. With Chase Utley aging, Johnson could have a role at some point this year. Thompson had a .260-13-39 line at Class AAA before a .295-5-16 cup of coffee in 122 at-bats with the White Sox. The Dodgers' outfield situation is cluttered right now, and he doesn't have an opening right now.

White Sox | Trayce Thompson to compete for starting job

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 15:31:09 -0800

Chicago White Sox OF Trayce Thompson will compete for the starting center field job in spring training next year.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson hit .295 with five home runs and 16 RBI in just 44 games in his rookie season for the ChiSox. He has plenty of upside and should at least be worth owning in deep mixed leagues as his playing time is on the rise in 2016.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia on the block?

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 09:45:53 -0800

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia is available in a trade this winter, and the White Sox have entertained offers for him this month, according to major league sources. However, Chicago remains optimistic on him after he hit .257/.309/.365 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI in 601 plate appearances in 2015. But the White Sox have more options around Garcia, namely OFs Melky Cabrera and Trayce Thompson. Garcia struck out 54 times and had only eight walks from June 9 to Aug. 3 last year. Garcia is also a below-average defender in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia is still only 24 years old, so he has plenty of upside left, it just may not come with the White Sox as they look to upgrade other parts of their roster. Chicago is an ideal location for a hitter, though, so if he remains with the Pale Hose, he could easily improve on his power and average if he can be more consistent with his command of the strike zone. He's one to watch as a value pick in fantasy drafts in 2016.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche, Tyler Flowers out

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:31:59 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche and C Tyler Flowers are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29. OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto, while C Geovany Soto is doing the catching and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie Thompson ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has intriguing upside but is batting only .214 (15-for-70) with three home runs and nine RBI in September. He's a sleeper pick this evening against Cueto if you're feeling lucky. Soto ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .222 (41-for-185) on the year and is even more of a gamble in daily leagues.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche continues to sit

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 09:11:08 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. OF Adam Eaton is serving as the designated hitter and OF Trayce Thompson draws the start in center field and is hitting third against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a risk/reward play on FantasyScore this afternoon. On the one hand he has developed into an everyday player for Chicago with LaRoche hurt and has shown plenty of upside. On the other hand, Verlander has looked really good of late and could be a tough matchup.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche remains out Tuesday

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 13:15:10 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam LaRoche (knee) is still out Tuesday, Sept. 22, against the Detroit Tigers. OF Trayce Thompson is hitting third against Tigers SP Daniel Norris.

Fantasy Tip: It appears White Sox manager Robin Ventura is taking a look at his younger starters, so even when LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is healthy there may not be much room for him. The best thing to do is cut him loose. Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) doesn't carry much FantasyScore value with a .222 average in the past week.

White Sox | Group of ChiSox regulars out for Game 2

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 14:02:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Adam Eaton, SS Alexei Ramirez, OF Melky Cabrera and C Tyler Flowers are all out of the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers Monday, Sept. 21. 3B Tyler Saladino is starting at the 6 and hitting second, OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and batting cleanup, C Rob Brantly is catching and hitting eighth, and OF Leury Garcia is in center field and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Randy Wolf.

Fantasy Tip: Against the hittable Randy Wolf tonight, several White Sox players are worth stacking on FantasyScore, but only Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should really excite you of this bunch as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore. Hitting cleanup certainly gives him a better chance to drive in runs, too.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche still sidelined

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 09:06:57 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (knee) remains out of the lineup Monday, Sept. 21, for the first game of a doubleheader. OF Melky Cabrera is serving as the designated hitter and OF Trayce Thompson is starting in left field and batting fifth against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a desperation sleeper pick on FantasyScore this afternoon. He's hitting .256 (10-for-39) with two home runs and seven RBI in the month of September with increased playing time because of LaRoche's ailment.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche out vs. Cleveland

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:28:01 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (knee) is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. OF Trayce Thompson draws into the lineup and is batting fifth against Cleveland Indians SP Cody Anderson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: This will be the fifth consecutive game LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has missed, and with just 12 home runs and a .645 OPS this season, there is no reason to hold onto him in the majority of seasonal leagues. Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has flashed big-time upside with a 1.113 OPS through his first 66 career plate appearances, but he is still more of a flier than sure thing at FantasyScore.

White Sox | Adam LaRoche sitting vs. Oakland

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 15:21:16 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche (knee) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 16. OF Trayce Thompson draws into the lineup and is batting sixth against Oakland Athletics SP Cody Martin Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: LaRoche ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is nearly a fantasy afterthought at this point, as he is battling knee tendonitis now and has been battling poor play all season. Seasonal owners should move on in the majority of leagues. Thompson ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) continues his strong play, and he is a sneaky FantasyScore play and late-season grab in yearly leagues.
