Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley replaces C Stephen Vogt in the starting lineup Saturday, May 2, against the Texas Rangers. Phegley will hit eighth in the order against Rangers SP Nick Martinez.
Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has one run scored and one RBI through 23 plate appearances so far in 2015. Phegley is a .190-hitter off righties for his career, and he should be avoided by all FantasyScore owners.

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is not in the starting lineup against the Houston Astros Friday, April 24. C Josh Phegley is starting behind the plate and batting seventh.
Fantasy Tip: This could be a consistent platoon based on handedness, as Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is a left-handed batter and Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a righty. Although, it is interesting to see Vogt sitting because he is hitting .450 with three home runs over his past six games. Phegley has gone 5-for-10 against southpaws this season, but opposing pitcher Dallas Keuchel has been next to unhittable through his first three starts. Phegley is nothing more than a flier for daily contests Friday.

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt is starting at first base and hitting third in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, April 21. C Josh Phegley receives the nod behind the plate and is batting seventh in the order. 1B Ike Davis is sitting the bench against the lefty starter.
Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting well to begin the year, going 15-for-41 (.366) with four home runs and 12 RBI. However, tonight might be the best time to avoid him right now, as he hit just .205 with one of his nine homers against southpaws in 2014, and Santiago historically has been tough on the A's. Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) doesn't have much experience with lefties in his young major league career, but he figures to be a solid value play at catcher against a southpaw this evening.

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley is starting behind the plate against the Kansas City Royals Sunday, April 19.
Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is starting behind the plate in order to give Stephen Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) a day off. He makes a nice, low-cost option for FantasyScore owners who typically decide to punt the catcher position.

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley might be forced into a starting role Tuesday, April 14, against the Houston Astros if C Stephen Vogt (ankle) cannot go.
Fantasy Tip: Vogt will be re-evaluated Tuesday. If Phegley starts, he would be a steal in FantasyScore at just $1,800 (or 3.6% of cap). At the very least, you could essentially punt the catcher position and save valuable salary to spread across other spots.

Oakland Athletics SS Marcus Semien and P Chris Bassitt could make immediate contributions to the team next year. C Josh Phegley and 1B Rangel Ravelo are expected to start at Class AAA. It appears that shortstop is Semien's job to lose in spring training, although he's mostly played third base and second with the Chicago White Sox. Bassitt could be the team's fourth or fifth starter going into next season.
