Rockies | Tim Wheeler has big season

Mon, 03 Oct 2011 08:15:06 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Tim Wheeler made a quantum leap this season after hitting .249-12-63 at High-A Modesto last season. He hit .287 with 33 homers and 86 RBIs at Double-A Tulsa this year. He struck out 142 times in 138 games, though. "Wheeler right now doesn't know his swing," general manager Dan O'Dowd said. "He profiles better than anybody we have (in the minors) at a corner position because of the power. He did something we've never had anybody do in Tulsa, but we're not going to rush him."
