New York Yankees OF Slade Heathcott (quadriceps) was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his right quadriceps, and he'll be put on the disabled list. OF Ramon Flores will be called up and join the team Saturday, May 30.
Fantasy Tip: With Heathcott injured, Chris Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) effectively becomes the starting center field, with Jacoby Ellsbury also on the shelf. It'll increase his value in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, but it could also be hurtful, since he has struggled against right-handed pitchers. At FantasyScore, only consider him an attractive value pick when he's facing a lefty.

New York Yankees OF Chris Young is starting in center field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray Friday, May 29, with OF Slade Heathcott (hamstring) out.
Fantasy Tip: Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) normally only starts against left-handed pitchers, but he's forced into the lineup due to an injury. That makes him a player to avoid at FantasyScore, especially while facing the American League ERA leader heading into the game.

New York Yankees OF Slade Heathcott is starting in center field and hitting eighth in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Chris R. Young Wednesday, May 27.
Fantasy Tip: Heathcott ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is expected to see plenty of starts against right-handers while Jacoby Ellsbury is on the DL. Heathcott already has a home run in 13 at-bats to start his major league career. He has double-digit stolen base potential, too, although it'll be hard for him to use it at the bottom of the lineup. He's a deep sleeper play, at best.

New York Yankees OF Slade Heathcott went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-1 win over the Kansas City Royals Monday, May 25.
Fantasy Tip: It was Heathcott's first home run, and although the sample size is small, he is hitting .417 with three runs scored and three RBIs in four games. When he is added to the player pool at FantasyScore, he could be worth checking out.

New York Yankees OF Slade Heathcott is in the starting lineup Friday, May 22, and is batting ninth against the Texas Rangers.
Fantasy Tip: Heathcott is likely batting because the Rangers have a righty on the mound in Colby Lewis. Wait one or two games to see how overmatched (or not) Heathcott is at the plate against MLB pitching.
Wed, 20 May 2015 16:31:24 -0700
New York Yankees OF Slade Heathcott is expected to play a lot against right-handed pitchers with OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Heathcott is worth a speculative add in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues, although, he has only played 37 game above Class AA. He was just recalled to the Yankee Wednesday, May 20, so take a wait-and-see approach in all other fantasy formats, including FantasyScore.

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) is dealing with a sprained right knee that has landed him on the disabled list. He hurt himself swinging in the fourth inning of the game Tuesday, May 19, and he went for an MRI exam. The Yankees could move OF Brett Gardner to center field, OF Chris Young could play center field. OF Slade Heathcott, who was recalled from the minors, is another option in center.
Fantasy Tip: There's no timetable for Ellsbury's ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) return, but given his history with nagging ailments, you should plan for the worst and a stay beyond the 15 days on the DL. Young ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should now see regular playing time, boosting his value in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. Young is a fine weapon for FantasyScore lineups against southpaws. Heathcott is strictly an AL-only commodity in deep setups.
