Rays | Brad Miller not guaranteed everyday SS job

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:22:25 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller is not guaranteed the everyday shortstop job, according to sources in the know, as SS Tim Beckham and SS Nick Franklin could be in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Whoever gets the upper hand here won't have a lot of traction on draft boards because the other two could still see a lot of playing time. Miller's downfall is a .756 on base plus slugging mark against righties and a .574 mark against left-handers.

Rays | Logan Forsythe a late scratch

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:00:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) was a late scratch Friday, Oct. 2, and 2B Nick Franklin draws into the lineup at second base and is batting eighth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is still aiming to play again this season, but time is running out, and the setback Friday is concerning. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .167/.223/.323 slash line this season, and he is not worth your attention at FantasyScore Friday.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sitting against Miami

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:09:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. 2B Nick Franklin is starting at the keystone and batting ninth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't out of the question to replace Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in seasonal leagues, as his injury status is up in the air at this point. Those more patient can hold, but you'll want to check back for updates. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation flier at FantasyScore Thursday, and he is likely best avoided.

Rays | No Logan Forsythe against Boston

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 14:48:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. 2B Nick Franklin is starting at second base and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been one of the biggest surprises in fantasy baseball this season with 68 runs, 17 home runs, 65 RBI and a .284/.362/.450 slash line. His .981 OPS against southpaws is especially appealing for FantasyScore players in the right matchups. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .153/.209/.294 line this season, and he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sitting Friday

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 12:38:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. SS Nick Franklin is starting at second base and batting eighth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Forsythe ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He is finishing the season strong with a .292/.358/.475 slash line since the All-Star break. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a career .620 OPS over 589 plate appearances and is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief at FantasyScore Friday.

Rays | Nick Franklin starting Saturday

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 13:55:53 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Nick Franklin will start at first base and hit eighth in the order Saturday, June 20, against the Cleveland Indians and RHP Corey Kluber. OF Jake Elmore comes out of the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) continues to represent nothing more than the dismal return the Rays fetched in exchange for David Price in last season's trade with the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners. Franklin should be kept far away from all FantasyScore lineup, especially when facing someone of Kluber's caliber.

Rays | Jake Elmore starting at first

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 15:11:00 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Jake Elmore is making another start at first base Tuesday, June 16, against the Washington Nationals. Elmore will hit eighth in the order against RHP Tanner Roark. 2B Nick Franklin comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Elmore ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has gone 5-for-16 in his last four games, and he's hitless in just one out of his past nine games. Elmore is much better suited to face lefties, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore while facing Roark.

Rays | David DeJesus out of the lineup

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 08:34:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF David DeJesus is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Sunday, June 14. OF Joey Butler will start in left field and is batting second, while 2B Nick Franklin will be the designated hitter and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The Rays are facing a left-handed pitcher, which is likely why DeJesus ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is out of the lineup. Butler ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has at least one hit in 13 of his last 14 games and is a solid option on FantasyScore. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has recorded five hits in his last four games but is still batting only .143 this season and is not a great option.

Rays | Nick Franklin playing second base

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 12:50:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays INF Nick Franklin is in the starting lineup as the second baseman against the Chicago White Sox Saturday, June 13. 2B Logan Forsythe is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) played shortstop Friday, June 12, but SS Asdrubral Cabrera ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is back in the lineup Saturday. Franklin is batting .135 entering play Saturday, with Cabrera hitting .208, so neither player is a viable FantasyScore option.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sitting out

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 09:23:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Forsythe is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija Saturday, June 13. 2B Nick Franklin will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return soon. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has picked up four hits in his last three games but is batting only .135 on the season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.
