Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout said Saturday, March 15, that he is looking to be more aggressive early in the count in an effort to cut down on strikeouts. "I think the biggest thing, for me, is being aggressive early," Trout said. "A lot of counts last year, I'd be taking, seeing pitches. But I'm going to be aggressive this year. Instead of just flipping one over for strike one, or 2-0 strike one, I'm going to be up there hacking, I'm going to be up there swinging."
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners can't really complain about anything with Trout, but if he curbed his strikeouts even slightly, he would be even more of a stud. He already said earlier in the spring he wants to run more, too, so it is nice to see he isn't resting on his laurels, and is working hard to be even better.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout signed a one-year deal, which keeps the team away from the luxury tax threshold this season. If he would have signed a long-term deal, the average annual value may have put the team over that threshold. The two sides can hammer out a deal without that worry now.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout said Wednesday, Feb. 19, that he wants to get back to stealing more bases, after his total dropped to 33 in 2013 from 49 in the previous year. He checked into camp at 235 pounds after entering last year's camp at 241. "I thought my stolen bases were down last year," Trout said. "I have to take advantage of taking that extra base."
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners are obviously getting a great player in Trout, but a few more steals would be even more music to their ears. The fact that Peter Bourjos has moved on to St. Louis is key, as his presence made it challenging for Trout on the base paths. Now, Trout is the main deal in center field and he is likely to be the main stolen base contributor on the team.
