Wed, 22 May 2013 13:42:40 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout was 1-for-12 in his last four games before hitting for the cycle to raise his average to .278 on the season Tuesday, May 21, and he had been 1-for-9 on pitches in the lower half of the strike zone. Trout excelled on those pitches last year, leading the league in all three slash-line stats (.360/.394/.608). However, this year, he had only a .259 batting average against those pitches before Tuesday. All four of his hits Tuesday were pitches lower in the zone, though. Fantasy Tip: Trout has underwhelmed so far this season compared to his ridiculous rookie campaign. We warned fantasy owners that Trout was in line for regression, and although he remains an excellent long-term fantasy commodity, don't expect him to go on a tear and duplicate his 2012 numbers for the remainder of this season.
Wed, 15 May 2013 00:05:35 -0700 Although Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout is in center field now while OF Peter Bourjos (hamstring) recovers from a strained left hamstring, the plan is to return Trout to left field when Bourjos comes back in two to four weeks.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 11:27:25 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OFs Mike Trout and Peter Bourjos have only combined for three stolen bases this season even though the team still is looking to be aggressive in their base running. Bourjos said opposing pitchers and the team's lineup are reasons he has not been running. "All the pitchers have been really quick to the plate, and you don't want to run into an out with Trout, [1B Albert Pujols], [OF Josh Hamilton] and [OF Mark Trumbo] hitting behind you," Bourjos said. "You want to be smart about it. You don't want to force the issue."
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:43:56 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout has already shed the extra 15 pounds he had in spring training, and he remains one of the fastest players in the majors; he's running to first base at between 3.9 and 4.0 seconds.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 20:29:56 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout slapped his first career grand slam Saturday, April 20, against the Detroit Tigers. He wasn't fazed, saying it was "just another home run."
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 13:39:39 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout, who was 10-for-44 with 12 strikeouts in his first 10 games, entered the game Tuesday, April 16, with three straight multi-hit games, and he said he's more relaxed at the plate. "First couple games," Trout added, "I've just been anxious to get out there." Trout has been staying back more lately and letting the ball travel instead of going out to get it. Fantasy Tip: Statistically, Trout is in line for some regression from his gaudy numbers from a season ago. However, there's no denying he is one of the most talented young players in the game. He's still very young, though, and he'll be exposed at times as opposing pitchers make adjustments to him.
Thu, 11 Apr 2013 16:35:29 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia considers the team's new lineup, with OF Mike Trout hitting in front of 1B Albert Pujols and OF Josh Hamilton, to be a long-term look.
Thu, 11 Apr 2013 15:52:35 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout was dropped from leadoff to second in the order Thursday, April 11, with 3B Alberto Callaspo hitting leadoff. SS Erick Aybar (heel), the normal No. 2 hitter, is out with a contusion on his left heel. Fantasy Tip: This is Mike Scioscia's attempt to get the stagnant offense going, more than anything. It won't hurt that Trout is hitting ahead of Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton now, though. Trout has gotten off to a relatively quiet start to the year.
Sat, 09 Mar 2013 23:15:55 -0800 Colorado Rockies SP Juan Nicasio struck out Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout and 1B Albert Pujols in the first inning Saturday, March 9, but Nicasio fell apart after that. He was stung for seven hits in 3 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs.
Sat, 02 Mar 2013 12:43:29 -0800 Craig Landis, agent for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout, said he is not happy that the team decided to renew Trout's contract and only pay him $510,000 this season. "During the process, on behalf of Mike, I asked only that the Angels compensate Mike fairly for his historic 2012 season, given his service time," Landis said. "In my opinion, this contract falls well short of a 'fair' contract, and I have voiced this to the Angels throughout the process."
