Cardinals | Randal Grichuk has surgery

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 12:44:54 -0800

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (hernia) underwent sports hernia surgery, but he's expected to be fully healthy for spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk had a fine season in St. Louis in a regular role in 2015, hitting .276 (89-for-323) with 17 home runs and 47 RBI. He's a candidate to surpass 20 home runs in a full season (played 103 games last year), and he'll be firmly locked into a starting spot. Grichuk is a nice piece to solidify your fake outfield rotation.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk will be the team's everyday center fielder in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk has plus power, and his .276-17-47 line in 323 at-bats is indicative of the promise he has. He'll be a popular target in the first half of drafts, but he struck out 110 times in those 323 at-bats. He'll be a bit of a boom-or-bust option as an OF3.
