Twins | Kyle Gibson throws bullpen

Thu, 19 May 2016 16:17:07 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson (shoulder) threw a 45-pitch bullpen and passed this test. As a result, he should be able to head out on rehab directly.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson was solid last season, going 11-11 with a 3.84 ERA, but struggled through his first few starts in 2016 before landing on the disabled list. Thus, owners should probably wait until he returns and gets in a rhythm again before adding him in most leagues.

Twins | Kyle Gibson throws bullpen

Tue, 10 May 2016 17:01:01 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session and didn't have any setbacks Tuesday, May 10. However, there remains some pain in his shoulder during long toss from 120 feet. There remains no timetable for his return, though. Gibson was 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA in four starts before landing on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson is likely at least several weeks away from returning, and there's no guarantee Minnesota will return him to a rotation spot immediately. Based on his performance earlier this year, he's only a stash candidate in deep AL-only leagues.

Twins | Kyle Gibson won't return Monday

Fri, 06 May 2016 22:22:59 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson (shoulder) will not be ready to come off the 15-day disabled list when eligible Monday, May 9, according to manager Paul Molitor.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners in AL-only leagues need to stay patient and avoid Gibson until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.

Twins | Kyle Gibson starts throwing

Mon, 02 May 2016 14:29:26 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson (shoulder) started light throwing Monday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown yet if Gibson will be able to return as soon as he's eligible to be activated from the 15-day disabled list, but this news indicates he's getting closer. There are probably some frustrated owners out there who may have dropped him following his injury, so give him a look if he's on the waiver wire. He deserves to be on rosters in deep leagues, at least.

Twins | Kyle Gibson won't return when eligible

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 23:55:53 -0700

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson (shoulder) is not likely to come off the 15-day disabled list when eligible, manager Paul Molitor indicated Friday, April 29. He is not expected to miss much more time.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson should be reserved in all fantasy leagues and avoided in DFS play until he can knock off the rust and make it through a full game or two without any setbacks.

Twins | Ervin Santana, Kyle Gibson will be ready

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 11:03:05 -0700

Minnesota Twins SPs Ervin Santana (back) and Kyle Gibson (shoulder) are both expected to be ready to come off the disabled list when they are eligible, according to manager Paul Molitor. Santana is dealing with a lower back strain, while Gibson is suffering from a right shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson, who was 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA in four starts, could have his rotation spot in jeopardy if top pitching prospect Jose Berrios impresses in his opportunity. Gibson should only be stashed in deeper AL-only leagues, while Berrios could be universally owned if he lives up to his billing against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday.

Twins | Ervin Santana, Kyle Gibson to DL

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:23:43 -0700

Minnesota Twins SPs Ervin Santana (back) and Kyle Gibson (shoulder) were placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, April 26. Santana is dealing with back spasms, while Gibson has a shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Duffey replaced Santana after he was scratched from his last start. Stash Santana in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, while Gibson can likely be jettisoned everywhere. Jose Berrios, the club's top pitching prospect, will be called up to make his major league debut Wednesday. The way Minnesota's rotation has underwhelmed, Berrios may be one of the better arms, meaning he could stick around for a while. Grab him everywhere.

Twins | Kyle Gibson won't make next start

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:59:26 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson will not be making his next start, and it's unclear when he'll start again.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson has had a rough go of it to begin the year, and he's sporting a 6.10 ERA, an 0-3 record, 1.74 WHIP and just 11 strikeouts and 12 walks in 20 2/3 innings. He should only be retained in deep AL-only leagues right now, albeit on the bench. Stay tuned for Minnesota's rotation plans moving forward.

Twins | Kyle Gibson not bad in loss

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 21:52:25 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson allowed three runs - one earned - and six hits with three walks and three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss Monday, April 11, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Gibson's defense let him down, and he didn't get a lot of run support. He is a risky fantasy option for the winless Twins, but he is still worth rostering in AL-only fantasy leagues since he is an above-average pitcher.

Twins | Kyle Gibson saddled with no-decision

Mon, 11 Apr 2016 16:52:05 -0700

Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson allowed six hits and three runs (one earned) while walking three and striking out three in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Chicago White Sox Monday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: It was an improvement over Gibson's season debut April 6 when he allowed four earned runs while walking five against the Orioles. He showed in the second half last year that he has strikeout upside, but he has yet to show it so far in 2016. Stay patient in AL-only leagues, but there may be better options available in mixed formats.
