Braves | Shelby Miller will start vs. Miami

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 13:08:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller will start against the Miami Marlins Monday, Aug. 31. He is replacing SP Mike Foltynewicz (illness) who has a virus and is running a fever Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Foltynewicz ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday. Check back for updates on when he'll make his next start. Miller ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) checks out as a potential sneaky No. 2 starting pitcher at FantasyScore Monday. Just note, despite owning a 3.24 ERA and striking out 100 batters over 111 innings through his past 18 starts, Miller hasn't won a single game during the span.

Braves | Shelby Miller's losing streak continues

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 18:21:39 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller (5-10) allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Chicago Cubs Friday, Aug. 21, with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has dropped nine consecutive decisions and hasn't record a victory since May 17. He has posted a 2.50 ERA through 25 starts this season and has been the victim of poor run support. Despite Atlanta's offensive shortcomings, Miller remains a decent FantasyScore pitching option.

Braves | Shelby Miller flirts with no-hitter

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 18:36:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, Aug. 16, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 10 in a no-decision.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) lowered his ERA to 2.43 for the year, but thanks to a lack of run support, he is just 5-9 and hasn't won since May 17. Miller is still a solid option at FantasyScore against most opponents, but the lack of support is keeping him from reaching an elite level.

Braves | Shelby Miller stuck in winless streak

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 05:17:59 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller went five innings, giving up two runs, five hits and three walks, in a 4-1 loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday, Aug. 9. Miller is now 5-9 and has not won a game in 15 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) got off to a strong start but has since slumped. His FantasyScore price is way too high for the numbers he has put up, so your best bet is to look at a similar price pitcher like Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano or Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels.

Braves | Shelby Miller can't buy a break

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 13:02:32 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller's 2.64 run support per nine innings is the lowest among all qualified starting pitchers this season, and he has now gone 14 consecutive starts without a win.

Fantasy Tip: During the 14-game drought, Miller ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) owns a 3.14 ERA with 71 strikeouts over 86 innings. He has rebounded in a big way in 2015, but the lack of wins is a serious hindrance to his fantasy stock. Wins are hardly an accurate indicator of performance for starting pitchers, but they are a fantasy category in the majority of seasonal leagues, and at FantasyScore. Despite his excellent showing this season, Miller should be bumped down your ranks in all fantasy formats going forward because of his lack of win upside.

Braves | Shelby Miller let down by bullpen

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 20:12:22 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller allowed two earned runs over seven innings with three walks and three strikeouts in a no-decision Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the San Francisco Giants. Miller was let down by his bullpen, as they gave up six runs in two innings of work to take away a win.

Fantasy Tip: After a little bit of a rough patch, it appears Miller ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) is back. He has three quality starts over his past four outings, and he has allowed four or fewer hits in those three starts. Most of his good work this season has come at Turner Field, so remember him in FantasyScore next time out Sunday at home against Brad Hand and the Miami Marlins.

Phillies | Cody Asche remains out

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 12:48:41 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 30. OF Odubel Herrera draws into the lineup, and he is playing center field and batting fifth against Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller Thursday. OF Jeff Francoeur is also not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: The Phillies outfield is beginning look like a bit of a daily shuffle with no one starting each of the past four games. Asche ($2,500, 5.0% of cap), Herrera ($3,100, 6.2% of cap), Francoeur ($2,800, 5.6% of cap), Domonic Brown ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) and Ben Revere ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) are all currently competing for playing time, but it wouldn't be shocking to see one of them traded and open up more at-bats. Against Miller ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) Thursday, none of the Philadelphia outfielders are worth a look at FantasyScore, though, and they're all low-end fantasy outfield options.

Braves | Shelby Miller has been unlucky

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 11:19:10 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller is 0-6 with a 2.96 ERA in his last 12 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) is an excellent play on FantasyScore tonight. Although the Phillies have been hot since the All-Star break, this matchup present Miller with a good chance of earning that W while facing off against Aaron Harang.

Braves | Shelby Miller receiving little run support

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:45:57 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller is winless over his past nine starts, and the Braves have scored just 1.15 support runs per nine innings he has pitched during the span. Miller is 0-3 with a 2.80 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 54 2/3 innings during the drought.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) is due for some good fortune, but starting him in FantasyScore contests while pitching at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies Friday is ill-advised. It isn't out of the question to bench Miller in seasonal formats, either.

Braves | Shelby Miller fans 10 in losing effort

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 20:28:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller struck out 10 batters over five innings while allowing five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits and three walks during the Braves 6-1 loss to the Washington Nationals Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) has gone eight starts without a win, and he was last victorious Sunday, May 17. Before his hiccup Tuesday, Miller had a 2.70 ERA over his previous seven outings, so he has been a tough-luck loser. The lack of wins hurts in all formats.
