Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller went with a new sinker after the All-Star break for the St. Louis Cardinals last year, and opponents hit just .201 against him with a .253 on-base percentage. In the first half of the season, opponents hit .259 against him with a .345 on-base percentage.

SPs John Lackey and Shelby Miller will pitch the third and fourth games of the series, respectively. SP Adam Wainwright is pitching Game 1 Saturday, Oct. 11, as previously reported.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Shelby Miller (ankle) suffered a bruised right ankle after being struck by a one-hop liner during the sixth inning of his start Friday, Sept. 19, against the Cincinnati Reds. He was taken out of the game as a precautionary measure but tests revealed nothing serious.

St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey (arm) will have his start skipped in the team's upcoming series against the Milwaukee Brewers because he has been dealing with stiffness and a dead arm, according to manager Mike Matheny. SPs Lance Lynn, Adam Wainwright and Shelby Miller will pitch in the three-game series beginning Tuesday, Sept. 16.
