Giants | Joe Panik activated from DL

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 14:24:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (concussion) was activated from the disabled list Thursday, July 28. In a corresponding move, 2B Grant Green was optioned to the minors.

Fantasy Tip: When he's been healthy, Panik's had a respectable season with a .256/.321/407 slash line, 45 runs, seven home runs, 36 RBI and five stolen bases. However, while there's upside, he's likely best suited for deep leagues at this point.

Giants | Two Giants out of the lineup

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:19:00 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Jarrett Parker and 3B Conor Gillaspie are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Cody Reed Tuesday, July 26. OF Mac Williamson will start in right field and is batting third. 2B Ramiro Pena will start at third base, while 2B Grant Green will start at second base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Williamson is hitting .293 with four home runs and 11 RBI this month and can be an attractive option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Grant is hitting .300 in his limited playing time this season but is still not a great fantasy option.

Giants | Denard Span returns Friday

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 14:59:14 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span (neck) is back in the starting lineup as the leadoff hitter against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin Friday, July 8. 2B Grant Green moves down to seventh in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Span has produced mediocre stats across the board this year with a .253 average, 38 runs scored, four home runs, 30 RBI and eight stolen bases. He can be useful in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for his runs and speed, but he's not giving you much else. Span has hit .230 with a homer and eight RBI against lefties, so give him another day before bringing him back in your lineups.

Giants | Four Giants out of the lineup

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 13:01:09 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span (neck), OF Angel Pagan (undisclosed), 2B Ramiro Pena (ankle) and 3B Conor Gillaspie are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Sunday, July 3. SS Ruben Tejada will start at third base and is batting first. 2B Grant Green will start at second base and is batting second. OF Mac Williamson will start in right field and is batting sixth. C Trevor Brown will start at catcher and is batting eight. C Buster Posey will start at first base, while 1B Brandon Belt will start in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Tejada, Green, Williamson and Brown are not strong fantasy options and owners should be able to find better options to use.

Giants | Grant Green at second Thursday

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 16:17:38 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Grant Green was recalled from the minors and is starting at second base and hitting seventh against Oakland Athletics SP Dillon Overton Thursday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Green hit just .190 with a homer and three RBI in 21 games for the Angels in 2015 and has very limited upside. He is likely to split time at the keystone with Ramiro Pena with Joe Panik (concussion) out, but Green's fantasy value is extremely limited.

Angels | Grant Green out Tuesday

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 16:42:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 1. SS Taylor Featherstone is starting at the keystone and is batting ninth against Oakland Athletics SP Cody Martin.

Fantasy Tip: Even against a pitcher making his first start of the season in the big leagues, Featherston ($1,600, 3.2% of cap), who's hitting only .130 (12-for-92) with one home run, shouldn't be used on FantasyScore.

Angels | Ryan Jackson starting vs. Tigers

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 13:18:46 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Ryan Jackson is starting at second base and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Wednesday, Aug. 26. 2B Grant Green (knee) tweaked his knee during the game Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: With Johnny Giavotella ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Grant Green ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) out, Jackson draws into the lineup, but he is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players. Jackson also has fleeting AL-only and cavernous mixed value.

Angels | Grant Green receives good news

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 21:47:42 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green (knee) went for an MRI Tuesday, Aug. 25, and the tests showed just a "tweak" to his right knee. Green is hopeful of returning to game action Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he officially plays and can prove his health in a full game without incident. If he sits Wednesday it is likely Ryan Jackson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) would get the nod.

Angels | Grant Green leaves game

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 18:10:07 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green (knee) left the game against the Detroit Tigers Tuesday, Aug. 25, due to discomfort in his right knee.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) had a single in his only at-bat before departing. Ryan Jackson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) took over for him at second base and could be a short-term FantasyScore option and salary saver if he makes a start or two.

Angels | Johnny Giavotella to DL

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:55:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Johnny Giavotella (personal) was placed on the disabled list with a "personal medical condition" Tuesday, Aug. 25. 2B Grant Green is likely to play second base every day in Giavotella's absence.

Fantasy Tip: Because Giavotella's situation is a bit unclear, you should hang onto him for now if you own him in deeper leagues, but be prepared for the chance that we don't see him again this year. Green ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) offers very little offensive upside and should be ignored at FantasyScore.
