Angels | Albert Pujols will start

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 15:41:06 -0700

Updating a previous story, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have revised their lineup for Tuesday, July 21, against the Minnesota Twins. 1B Albert Pujols will start and hit third in the order, SS Erick Aybar will bat fourth and 2B Grant Green comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) will lose his off day due to the late scratching of OF Mike Trout. Pujols has fared much better against right-handed pitching this season, and FantasyScore owners can freely use him against RHP Kyle Gibson of the Twins.

Angels | Albert Pujols resting Tuesday

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 15:36:02 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols is receiving a rest day Tuesday, July 21, against the Minnesota Twins. 2B Grant Green comes into the lineup as the corresponding roster move, he'll bat eighth in the order against RHP Kyle Gibson.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting just .267 against righties this season, and he doesn't have a single extra-base hit. FantasyScore owners should stay clear.

Angels | Grant Green playing first base Sunday

Sun, 31 May 2015 14:17:23 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green is playing first base Sunday, May 31, against the Detroit Tigers. 1B Albert Pujols is the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Green is hitting .111 in the last week, so the best bet here is to keep Green on your bench and use that money elsewhere.

Angels | Grant Green starting at first base

Thu, 28 May 2015 14:45:53 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green is batting eighth and starting at first base against the Detroit Tigers Thursday, May 28.

Fantasy Tip: Green only has nine plate appearances this season and two home runs over 265 career plate appearances. He is nothing more than a desperation flier in all fantasy formats.

Angels | Kirk Nieuwenhuis coming up?

Thu, 28 May 2015 10:33:06 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis is expected to be called up from the minors Thursday, May 28, after the team traded for him Wednesday, May 27. He is likely to start in left field against right-handed pitchers, with OF Matt Joyce serving as the designated hitter. 2B Grant Green or OF Alfredo Marte could start in left field against lefties.

Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) had just three hits in 38 at-bats (.079) with the New York Mets before being traded to the west coast. His value will be limited to deep AL-only leagues with increased playing time with a new team. Avoid him for now at FantasyScore.

Angels | Johnny Giavotella still the starter

Wed, 27 May 2015 16:30:32 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Johnny Giavotella will still see most of the playing time at second base, but 2B Grant Green will occasionally mix in, according to manager Mike Scioscia.

Fantasy Tip: Giavotella ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting just .211 (16-for-76) with five RBI in May after coming out hot in April after winning the job in spring training. He won't be very valuable at FantasyScore for the rest of the year, aside from being a deep sleeper option that can save you money on the rest of your lineup.

Angels | Johnny Giavotella resting

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:23:04 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Johnny Giavotella is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 27. 2B Grant Green is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner.

Fantasy Tip: Green ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) will be mainly used for infield depth by the Angels, and he'll likely be an afterthought at FantasyScore, especially while hitting at the bottom of the order.

Angels | Johnny Giavotella starting at second

Sat, 04 Apr 2015 11:25:18 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Johnny Giavotella has won the starting job at second base. He beat out INFs Grant Green and Josh Rutledge, both of whom will begin the 2015 season with Triple-A Salt Lake.

Fantasy Tip: Giavotella ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) only has value in deep universal leagues and AL-only formats at the moment. However, his low FantasyScore price tag could be tempting for owners who want to spend big bucks at other positions on days when he has a favorable matchup.

Angels | Halos likely to trade infielder

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 13:57:11 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Howie Kendrick or 3B David Freese are likely to be traded this offseason so that the team can address other needs, mainly their pitching, according to major league sources. The Angels could seek another starting pitcher or a left-hander for their bullpen. Both Kendrick and Freese are entering the final year of their contracts, and Kendrick may be more likely to be dealt because the team could replace him with 2Bs Grant Green or Gordon Beckham. Kendrick has limited no-trade protection that allows him to block a trade to six teams this year and just four next year.
