Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) will make his second minor-league rehab start with Class A Lakeland Saturday, April 28. He was a candidate for the team's fifth starter job in the spring, but he was sidelined in mid-March due to shoulder tendinitis.

Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) returned to the mound with four innings of no-hit ball, starting for Class A Lakeland Monday, April 23, against the Daytona Cubs. Turner, 20, recorded no strikeouts and two walks. The four innings were Turner's first since the Tigers shut him down in spring training with tendonitis in his throwing shoulder.

The Detroit Tigers optioned SP Jacob Turner to Triple-A Toledo. They also reassigned RP Chris Bootcheck, OF Quintin Berry, SS Audy Ciriaco, SS Argenis Diaz and OF Ryan Strieby to minor league camp.

Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) was impressive in another bullpen session Sunday, March 25. Tigers pitching coach Jeff Jones said Turner will rest two days before making an in-game appearance Wednesday, March 28. "It went really well," Jones said of Turner's 45-pitch session.

Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session Friday, March 23, and will do so again Sunday, March 25, while he tries to make it back into a spring game. Turner is expected to be ticketed for the minors.

Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) threw from 150 feet Wednesday, March 21, and will throw a side session in the bullpen Friday, March 23. He hopes to be back on the mound soon, but he is "very unlikely" to make the opening day roster.

Detroit Tigers SP Jacob Turner (shoulder) has resumed throwing after dealing with tendonitis in his arm. "My arm feels a lot better," Turner said. "I'm relieved and happy that my arm feels as good as it does now."

Detroit Tigers skipper Jim Leyland said SP Jacob Turner (arm) is experiencing a dead-arm phase in spring training, and the team will rest him for a few days. Turner's fastball velocity was down from its normal 93-mph range. He has an ERA of 11.25 and is allowing opposing batters to hit .333 in three spring outings.
