Minor has allowed 16 hits and five walks in nine innings in his last two starts. His ERA now stands at 6.26 in six starts. "I need to work on it more in the bullpen and pick my spots to throw it," he said. "I wanted to see it against hitters. It was a lot better today, but I had a couple that were straight — and they went straight out of the ball park. But overall I felt a lot better. Started throwing in, started jamming a lot of guys and throwing some curveballs and sliders."

He'll be followed in the rotation by SPs Paul Maholm, Kris Medlen, Mike Minor and Julio Teheran. Hudson hasn't started on opening day since 2008. Fantasy Tip: Hudson's valuable traits are slowly declining, and his drop in velocity will have side effects. He's more suited for inclusion in NL only leagues as rotation depth.

He has a 5.50 ERA after giving up 23 hits, 11 runs and 12 walks with 15 strikeouts in 18 innings in Grapefruit League action. He said he threw mostly fastballs and didn't go inside to many right-handers, something he'll do more of during the season. Minor is working on a two-seam sinking fastball, and manager Fredi Gonzalez isn't concerned. Fantasy Tip: Minor needs to limit his fly-ball allowance, and that'll go a long way in sending his ERA in the right direction. The introduction of a two-seam fastball is encouraging in this arena. Don't let his spring results deter you from considering him.
