San Diego Padres OF Donavan Tate (undisclosed) is headed for the disabled list for Class A Fort Wayne after leaving the second game of a doubleheader Monday, April 11, after a collision with OF Everett Williams, reports Bill Center, of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Tate was selected third overall in the 2009 draft. He is expected to miss seven to 10 days. Williams was also forced to leave the game, but there is no report on the extent of his injury.

San Diego Padres OF Donavan Tate (shoulder), the team's first-round pick last year, has been playing in extended Spring Training games the past week, according to MLB.com's Corey Brock. "He's getting better," director of player development Randy Smith said. "He's starting to swing the bat and get his timing down. He's making progress there. You can see all the tools and athleticism."

The San Diego Union-Tribune's Bill Center reports San Diego Padres first-round pick OF Donavan Tate (jaw) suffered a broken jaw that required surgery last weekend following an ATV accident near his Georgia home. Tate's jaw was reportedly fitted with a plate and wired shut. The Padres believe he will be ready by spring training.

However, the injury is nothing serious and he will take anti-inflammatory medication for 10 days. Tate is expected to be ready to play in an instructional league in September.
