Mariners | Dustin Ackley gets day off

Sat, 02 May 2015 14:53:25 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Dustin Ackley is not in the lineup Saturday, May 2, against the Houston Astros. OF Rickie Weeks will get the start against right-hander Collin McHugh.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting just .195 through 46 plate appearances, but he does have two home runs in the early going. Weeks shouldn't garner much FantasyScore consideration, as he is batting sixth in the order and is a career .243-hitter against righties.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks playing vs. Texas

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 16:16:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Rickie Weeks is starting in left field and hitting sixth in batting order against Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo Monday, April 27. OF Dustin Ackley is on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) normally only starts against left-handed pitchers, but Dustin Ackley ($2,200) has been struggling. With that said, Weeks is worth considering at FantasyScore against Gallardo in a hitter-friendly ballpark. Weeks hit .294 (35-for-119) with one of his eight home runs against righties in 2014.

Mariners | Dustin Ackley leading off

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 16:37:07 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Dustin Ackley is starting in left field and hitting leadoff against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Tuesday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Ackley ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) faces a tough matchup in McHugh tonight. The Astros pitcher is off to a great start to the year and has pitched remarkably well at Safeco Field in his young career. A spot atop the lineup makes Ackley intriguing to those at FantasyScore that want to zig when others zag tonight.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks starting vs. lefty

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:30:16 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Rickie Weeks is starting in left field and hitting leadoff against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP David Huff Tuesday, April 14. Both OFs Dustin Ackley and Seth Smith will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is involved in a platoon situation in the outfield for the M's. He's a career .261 hitter against lefties, too, and he clubbed seven of his eight home runs in 2014 off southpaws. That'll make him a cost-effective, sleeper pick at FantasyScore on games that he's playing, and a matchup against Huff Tuesday could work in his favor.

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brandon McCarthy Monday, April 13. OF Dustin Ackley is starting in center field and leading off Monday night.

Fantasy Tip: Strongly consider Ackley ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) in FantasyScore contests this evening. Ackley hit .259 with 13 of his 14 home runs against right-handers in 2014, and he's 5-for-17 with one homer against McCarthy in his career.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks starting vs. A's

Fri, 10 Apr 2015 14:38:08 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Rickie Weeks is starting in left field and leading off against Oakland Athletics SP Drew Pomeranz Friday, April 10. OFs Dustin Ackley and Seth Smith are both sitting the bench in the matchup against a left-hander.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) provides you a nice chance to save money at other positions in the evening slate of games at FantasyScore. He will regularly play against lefties this year, and he hit seven home runs and had a .504 slugging percentage in 2014 against lefties.

Mariners | Rickie Weeks, Justin Ruggiano to start

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 10:11:54 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Rickie Weeks and OF Justin Ruggiano will both draw starts against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson Tuesday, April 7, as they utilize their platoons. Weeks will replace 2B Dustin Ackley at second, while Ruggiano will replace OF Seth Smith in right field.

Fantasy Tip: Weeks ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Ruggiano ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) should both be considered as cheap alternatives at FantasyScore today, especially against Wilson, who is coming a poor 2014 season and an unhealthy spring training.

Mariners | Dustin Ackley to split time in LF?

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 10:42:05 -0800

Seattle Mariners OF Dustin Ackley is expected to split time in left field with 2B Rickie Weeks, according to manager Lloyd McClendon. However, McClendon doesn't plan on using projected platoons in spring games. For example, Ackley will see playing time against left-handers in camp.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Ackley is expected to share time in Seattle's outfield in 2015 severely affects his mixed league fantasy value. He's maybe a candidate to round out your outfield depth in really deep mixed leagues, but he should be seen as mainly an AL-only commodity right now.
