New York Yankees 2B Dustin Ackley (shoulder) underwent season-ending shoulder surgery Friday, June 3. Manager Joe Girardi said Ackley should be ready for spring training next season.
Fantasy Tip: Ackley will have plenty of time to recover from the injury and probably will be a bench player for the Yankees in 2017. He probably would only have value in AL-only leagues. Ronald Torreyes and Rob Refsnyder likely will see time at second base with Ackley out but should only be used in AL-only leagues at this point.

New York Yankees 2B Dustin Ackley (shoulder) will have shoulder surgery, according to manager Joe Girardi.
Fantasy Tip: That'll likely put an end to Ackley's 2016 season, as he's dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder. His absence is good news for Rob Refsnyder, who can serve in a utility role for the Yanks in the infield or outfield. His power-speed combination will play in AL-only leagues for now.

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees INF Dustin Ackley (shoulder) has a torn labrum and surgery is a possibility, manager Joe Girardi said Monday, May 30.
Fantasy Tip: Ackley was placed on the 15-day disabled listed earlier in the day. When healthy he is only worth using in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues and in DFS as a salary saver, and even that is a stretch given his dismal slash line to date.

New York Yankees INF Dustin Ackley (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder dislocation Monday, May 30.
Fantasy Tip: Ackley didn't play enough to warrant ownership outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, and he is only worth stashing in those formats if you were counting on him as a starter. Through 70 plate appearances, Ackley has a disastrous .148/.243/.148 slash line.

New York Yankees INF Dustin Ackley (shoulder) was removed from the game Sunday, May 29, against the Tampa Bay Rays after suffering a shoulder injury when he dove back into first base while attempting to retrieve a pickoff throw. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters after the game Ackley will undergo an MRI and that it is a "distinct possibility" that Ackley will be placed on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: New York's first base situation is arguably the worst in baseball right now and one to avoid in fantasy. Regular starter Mark Teixeira, who replaced Ackley following the injury, is batting .193 and coming off a neck injury and Ackley is hitting 148 following today's effort. Prospect Greg Bird is already out for the season as well. The Yankees desperately need to look at other alternatives if they wish to remain in the playoff conversation this fall.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (neck) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25, and manager Joe Girardi said there is no timetable for Teixeira's return, but that the first baseman will visit with the team doctor Wednesday. 2B Dustin Ackley is starting at first base and batting sixth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Teixeira is off to a miserable start to 2016 with just three home runs and a .195/.294/.282 slash line. It isn't out of the question to move on from the 36-year-old veteran in most mixed leagues given his lengthy injury history. View Ackley as a low-priced flier in daily contests Wednesday.
