Chicago White Sox OF Jared Mitchell belted a two-run home run in the fifth inning of Cactus League play Wednesday, March 7, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Robin Ventura said Mitchell is making an impression after missing the 2010 season with an ankle injury.

Chicago White Sox OF Jared Mitchell (ankle) is progressing well from a torn tendon in his left ankle, the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports. He's doing baseball activities in a controlled setting at Class A Winston-Salem and remains on schedule to play in the Instructional League next month.

Chicago White Sox OF Jared Mitchell (ankle), the team's top draft pick in last year's draft, started doing some lower body work this past week, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. Mitchell tore a tendon on the inside of his left ankle during Spring Training. He will not begin baseball activities until he starts running on a flat surface. Mitchell is hopeful he will be ready to play in the Arizona Fall League.

ESPNChicago.com reports Chicago White Sox OF Jared Mitchell (ankle) underwent surgery Tuesday, March 16, to fix a tear of the tendon in his left ankle. He is expected to miss the entire 2010 season. Mitchell will be immobilized for four to six weeks before beginning rehab.

Updating previous reports, Chicago White Sox OF Jared Mitchell (ankle) will undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left ankle Tuesday, March 16, according to The Associated Press. He will be evaluated Monday, March 15, before having surgery at an outpatient medical center in Scottsdale, Ariz. No timetable will be available for his recovery until the operation is complete.
