Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said the team does believe OT Jermey Parnell has improved his play. "When you say the next step, if that implies is he getting better, yes," Jones said. "I think he is getting better. I think his arrow so to speak is going up." Jones said the ideal scenario would be to have Parnell and OT Doug Free on the team this season.

Dallas Cowboys OT Doug Free might have to compete with OT Jermey Parnell for the starting right tackle job - if he remains on the team at all. The Cowboys may still ask Free to take a paycut, or release him. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said a decision regarding Free will likely not be made prior to the NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to continue their rotation of OT Doug Free and Jermey Parnell at right tackle in Week 17. Free played 35 offensive snaps in Week 16 while Parnell played 22, which was the lowest amount of plays Free played this season.

Dallas Cowboys OT Doug Free, who has committed eight false starts, six holds and has allowed seven sacks this year, may not be back next year unless he improves his play. He'll be owed a base salary of $7 million next year and the Cowboys could take a salary cap hit of more than $10 million, according to a league source. The team could turn to OT Jermey Parnell to replace Free. If Free does come back, he'll likely have to rework his deal.

The Dallas Cowboys used a rotation of OTs Doug Free and Jermey Parnell at right tackle in the Week 14 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both players shared first-team reps during practice last week. "Well we just wanted to give Jermey a chance," Garrett said Sunday, Dec. 9. "He has done a good job."
