Falcons | Antone Smith leaves game

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 08:16:39 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith (neck) left the game Sunday, Oct. 26, with a neck injury and is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: If he can't return, it would be a tough break for his fantasy value. The Falcons are cruising with a 21-0 lead early in the third quarter, and they figure to run the ball often to eat some clock.

Falcons | Antone Smith doing a lot with little

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 13:21:28 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith is ranked 10th among running backs in non-PPR scoring leagues despite having just 23 total touches (13 carries, 10 receptions). What's helped Smith so far is his ability to break long touchdowns. He has five so far on the season.

Fantasy Tip: Smith won't be able to keep up this production with such a small volume of plays. He's still a flex option in PPR leagues, but he's bound to fizzle.

Falcons | Another long TD for Antone Smith

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 15:09:03 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith hauled in a 41-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter of the Week 6 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Smith continues to produce big-time, lengthy scores. He has been in the league five years, posting seven career scores and each has been at least 38 yards or longer. He still doesn't get many touches, but when he does get one, he makes the most of it.

Falcons | Antone Smith is on the rise

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 18:14:16 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith has averaged 17.2 yards per touch in the offense in five years with the team, and he is the only player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger with six offensive touchdowns of at least 35 yards in his first 25 career touches. Smith had the second-most snaps of his career (11) last week, and head coach Mike Smith conceded this week that the back has earned more touches.

Fantasy Tip: At $4300 in FantasyScore (or 8.6 percent of the cap), Smith is a decent low-end play with some upside. However, he isn't really built for a featured back role, and is unlikely to see more than 10 to 15 touches per game at any point, so keep that in mind.

Falcons | More touches for Antone Smith?

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 20:45:25 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith has earned more touches because of his play this season, head coach Mike Smith said Monday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been a big-play weapon for the Falcons, piling up 277 total yards on just 17 touches. He is currently a boom-or-bust fantasy option, but more touches could add some consistency to his stat lines. However, you may want to wait and see just how many more touches he has earned before gambling on him at FantasyScore.

Falcons | Antone Smith making most of opportunities

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 11:22:20 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith has four touchdowns so far this season on just 17 touches. He is averaging 16.29 yards per touch.

Fantasy Tip: It will be tough for the Falcons not to get Smith the ball more often due to his playmaking ability. Still, Steven Jackson comes first in Atlanta's hierarchy of fantasy relevance.

Falcons | Another long TD for Antone Smith

Sun, 05 Oct 2014 14:55:36 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith had a 74-yard touchdown reception in the Week 5 game against the New York Giants. He finished with one carry for two yards, and three catches for 83 yards and the score. Smith has averaging 50.3 yards per scoring play this season.

Fantasy Tip: Smith is a very risky fantasy option, despite the recent long scoring plays, as he doesn't get enough touches. If Steven Jackson or Devonta Freeman were to suffer a long-term injury, Smith would then be worth using in most formats.

Falcons | Antone Smith landing praise

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 17:02:00 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Antone Smith has scored every 4.3 times he has touched the football this season, yet he is fourth among the team's tailbacks with 13 touches on the season. Offensive coordinator Dick Koetter said the team is deep at tailback and they feel good about all of their backs. He went on to note that Smith is making the most of his playing time. "Guys earn their touches and he's doing a good job. You can make a great argument that he deserves more," Koetter said. Smith has three touchdowns in four games this year. He averages 16.4 yards per touch during his career.

Fantasy Tip: Smith costs just $3,300 in FantasyScore, but his limited touches hold back his potential. He definitely has upside vs. cost in his favor, but his production will likely be feast or famine until the Falcons opt to give him consistent playing time.
