Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports the Oakland Raiders have released S Jerome Boyd, WR Jonathan Holland, LB David Nixon, LB Slade Norris, LB Chris O'Neill, FB Marcel Reece, RB Gary Russell, LB Morlon Greenwood, CB Justin Miller, DT Ryan Boschetti, DT Terdell Sands, CB Darrick Brown, OT Seth Wand, OG Mark Wilson, OT James Marten, TE Darrell Strong and DE Greyson Gunheim. The Raiders have also waived injured FS Rashad Baker (stinger), CB Mike Hawkins (undisclosed) and C John Wade (stinger).

Chadd Cripe, of the Idaho Statesman, reports Oakland Raiders TE Chris O'Neill has been moved from tight end to middle linebacker. O'Neill has never played the position before. O'Neill bulked up to 260 pounds, but he is planning to slim down to 250 pounds. He is also spending part of his break studying a DVD and playbook to figure out the defense.
