The Associated Press reports free agent RB Charlie Rogers (Dolphins) has been cleared of all charges stemming from a bar brawl. Rogers was acquitted Tuesday, April 20, of resisting arrest, hindering his apprehension and four counts of aggravated assault. They stemmed from a brawl at a New Jersey bar on July 13, 2002.

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins WR/KR Sam Simmons (ankle) suffered a high left ankle sprain in Sunday's, Nov. 23, game against the Washington Redskins. Because of the severity of the injury, Simmons could be headed for injured reserve. The Dolphins are considering re-signing RB Charlie Rogers if Simmons is deemed unable to play.

Dolphins | Rogers Gets Arm Infection Fixed

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins WR/KR Charlie Rogers (arm) said he spent the evenings of Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20, in the hospital after an infection in his right arm became extremely swollen and uncomfortable. "It was out to about here,'' Rogers said, indicating about two inches beyond normal. "It got up into my upper arm and then down into my hand... It was really tender. "The doctor just told me to go to the hospital. I didn't get out until Sunday afternoon." Rogers' arm returned to normal after taking medication for the infection, although he still had it wrapped.

Michael Cunningham, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt said Wednesday, Aug. 20 that the Dolphins could keep an extra running back because RBs Robert Edwards and Leonard Henry both have played well. That would mean carrying five running backs if WR Charlie Rogers, who is expected to have a role on offense, is included.

Updating previous reports, the Sun-Sentinel reports Miami Dolphins WR/KR Charlie Rogers asked to be entered into a pretrial intervention program for first-time offenders Monday, but Middlesex County assistant prosecutor Michael Weis denied the motion. Weis said if Rogers would have entered the program and completed it, the charges would have been dismissed. However, he denied the motion “because of the nature of the offenses.” Rogers has appealed the decision to the court, and has another hearing on the matter on May 23.

The AP reports Buffalo Bills RB/KR Charlie Rogers is being sued by a police officer who contends he was injured while trying to break up a fight outside an after-hours club in July. According to the suit, when the officer tried to arrest Rogers, the player shouted an expletive and threatened the officer.

The AP reports Buffalo Bills WR/KR Charlie Rogers was charged with punching a police officer at a bar and had to be subdued with pepper spray. He is also being charged with spitting on two police officers. He was released several hours later after posting $150,000 bail. Bills spokesperson Scott Berchtold said he was unaware of the arrest and declined to comment.

The Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans have given exclusive-rights free agent TE Johnny Huggins a qualifying offer, meaning they will retain his rights. RT Ryan Young was given the maximum tender of $1.227 million, meaning he carries a first-round draft pick as compensation if another team signs him. C Ryan Schau was given the minimum tender of $563,000. The Texans would get no draft compensation because Schau was an undrafted free agent. KR Charlie Rogers was also given the minimum tender offer. The Texans can negotiate contracts with the players at a later time, and there are indications they will sign Young, and possibly Huggins, to long-term deals.

Sources have said the Texans could also be on the trail of CB Aaron Glenn (NY Jets), DT Gary Walker (Jacksonville), and TE Freddie Jones (San Diego). Sharper, Glenn, Coleman, Payne, Young and McKinney will take physicals for the team this week in Houston.

Percy Allen reports for the Seattle Times that DT Antonio Cochran took the bulk of the snaps with the Seattle Seahawks first-string defense on Wednesday, as DT John Randle (sprained knee) sat out of action. Randle said he should know in the next few days whether or not he'll be able to play this weekend. FS Marcus Robertson (hamstring) missed practice again Wedneday and may miss his third straight game. Returner/WR Charlie Rogers (sprained toes) took part in Wednesday's practice.

FS Marcus Robertson (hamstring) still hasn't practiced and may miss this weekend's game. ORT Chris McIntosh (neck stinger) is set to return to the starting lineup this weekend. ST/WR Charlie Rogers (toe) is also expected to return this weekend.

Of course, the team has a bye this week.

The Seattle Seahawks official site reports PR/KR Charlie Rogers (turf toes) tested his sore toes before the game on Sunday but head coach Mike Holmgren said he was in to much pain to give it a go. Holmgren said the BYE week will help Rogers get healthy.

The Post-Intelligencer reports newly signed Seattle Seahawks S Marcus Robertson wanted his No. 31 uniform currently worn by KR Charlie Rogers. Rogers said no problem and he gave Robertson his number. Rogers may switch to No. 20, which became available last week when free agent S Jay Bellamy signed with the New Orleans Saints.
