Patriots | Julian Edelman expected to sit

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 11:01:20 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is not expected to play in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Thursday, Aug. 18, so he can rest his injured foot.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Edelman is just receiving some time off and should be fine for the start of the regular season. Edelman likely will be a focal point in the passing game this season and should be a high-end No. 2 receiver in most leagues.

Patriots | Julian Edelman looks sharp

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 21:59:48 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) looked quick in his first full 11-on-11 day Tuesday, Aug. 16. He sported an impressive double move to win a one-on-one drill.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman gave owners a sigh of relief, but he's not completely out of the woods after a flare-up a few days ago. He's still a high-end WR2 with some risk to go with ample reward.

Patriots | Julian Edelman back at practice

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 07:36:44 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's as if the grim scene of him slamming his helmet in frustration of a re-injury never happened. He was even leaving his feet to catch passes today. Edelman is a legit WR2, but use caution.

Patriots | Julian Edelman injury not serious

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 10:10:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) suffered an injury in practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, but it is not believed to be serious, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: That's a sigh of relief, but as with the Pats and injuries, expect a shroud of secrecy. Edelman remains a No. 2 PPR receiver until further notice.

Patriots | Julian Edelman exits practice

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 07:40:34 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) left practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, and slammed his helmet on the ground in frustration. He's sitting on the back of a cart, with his left shoe off, being tended to.

Fantasy Tip: It's premature, but his surgically repaired left foot may be an issue. We'll keep you posted when more is known about the fantasy WR2.

Patriots | Julian Edelman practicing

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 11:44:10 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is participating in practice Sunday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, so he probably will be eased back into practice over the next few days. He probably should be considered a No. 2 wide receiver at this point but will have more value in point-per-reception leagues.

Patriots | Four WR spots set in New England

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 20:27:40 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are considered locks as the top four wide receivers. The team is expected to keep one or two more receivers from a list that includes WRs DeAndre Carter, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, Devin Lucien, Keshawn Martin and Nate Washington. Dobson has reportedly looked good in training camp so far, but the fact he doesn't play special teams might hurt his chances. Martin received a $600K fantasy bonus in January, so he might be the favorite for the No. 5 job.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman and Amendola will be the top fantasy options, while Hogan and Mitchell are worth fliers in leagues with deeper rosters. The others have little to no fantasy appeal, although if injuries open up more prominent roles the No. 5 or 6 receivers could emerge later.

Patriots | Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola progress

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 08:39:31 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) an WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) ran hills Friday, July 29, and appear close to returning to practice.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman is coming off of a broken foot and will be without Tom Brady for the first four games. Those issues are enough to push him down into the high-end WR2 range in fantasy. Amendola has been a bit of a fantasy tease, but he has struggled to stay on the field and remain a consistent fantasy threat. He'll have potential for big games occasionally, but he's best left to the WR5 area.

Patriots | Julian Edelman should be good to go

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 11:08:04 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is expected to be removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list in the near future.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman avoided a serious injury, but we don't really know just how much he'll be able to practice yet. He probably won't miss the start of the regular season, but an eye should be kept on his progress throughout training camp and preseason. Edelman is a borderline WR1 in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Three notable Pats put on PUP list

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 16:13:35 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and RB Dion Lewis (knee) were all placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola has had trouble staying on the field throughout his career and is an untrustworthy fantasy football commodity. Leave him to the waiver wire in standard leagues. Keep an eye on Edelman's progress this fall, but if he's ready for Week 1, he should be firmly in WR2 territory with more intrigue in PPR leagues. Despite a strong season for Lewis in 2015 before his injury, his injury makes him extremely risky. Not to mention the fact he's never had more than 50 carries in a season in the NFL. He's running back depth in deeper leagues and could be a flex option in certain weeks in PPR formats.
