Carolina Panthers CB Bene Benwikere (ankle), LB Chase Blackburn (knee), WR Philly Brown (concussion), OG Amini Silatolu (calf), OG Trai Turner (knee) and RB Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) all did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 24. RB Chris Ogbonnaya (groin) did not practice and is questionable. LB Jason Williams (hip) was limited in practice and is questionable. OT Byron Bell (elbow) and OG Nate Chandler (thigh) were both limited in practice and are probable. LB Thomas Davis (non-injury) and S Roman Harper (non-injury) both fully practiced and are probable.
Sun, 12 Oct 2014 08:36:20 -0700
Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is inactive Sunday, Oct. 12, for Week 6.
Fantasy Tip: Darrin Reaves ($3,600; 7.2% of your cap) was relatively ineffective last week, but he's expected to be the lead guy again today. Chris Ogbonnaya ($3,500; 7%) had eight carries and a touchdown last week and could be a dark horse on FantasyScore today.
Sat, 04 Oct 2014 08:21:47 -0700
Carolina Panthers RB Chris Ogbonnaya's playing time in Week 5 will be limited, because he signed earlier this week and is not familiar with the offensive playbook.
Fantasy Tip: Ogbonnaya will see some playing time, but Darrin Reaves and Fozzy Whittaker will receive a majority of the work at running back. Ogbonnaya should not be a starting option in any league this week.
Fri, 03 Oct 2014 11:08:50 -0700
Carolina Panthers RBs Darrin Reaves, Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya will all receive carries early in the game Week 5, and the team will continue to use whichever running back is producing, according to head coach Ron Rivera.
Fantasy Tip: This is not an ideal situation for fantasy owners since it is not known how the carries will be spread out during the game. Reaves and Whittaker cost $3,000 on FantasyScore, but owners should consider avoiding the Panthers' running back situation since there is no specific role for any of the running backs.
Thu, 02 Oct 2014 12:43:16 -0700
Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) likely will not be able to play in Week 5, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera said he is comfortable with RBs Darrin Reaves, Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya.
Fantasy Tip: Reaves, Whittaker and Ogbonnaya could all receive work in Week 5, but Reaves is expected to receive the start. Reaves costs $3,000 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap flex option that can bring a profit if he gets most of the work. Whittaker also costs $3,000 but may not have a big enough role to be a factor in fantasy leagues.
Wed, 01 Oct 2014 07:14:15 -0700
Updating an earlier report, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is out for Week 5, according to head coach Ron Rivera.
Fantasy Tip: Darrin Reaves ($3,000; 6% of your cap) is expected to start and makes a bare-minimum flex option on FantasyScore. Chris Ogbannaya could also figure into the mix, but now there are reports Jonathan Stewart (knee) could return. Stewart ($3,600; 7.2% of your cap) would be a decent bargain bin flex option if he's able to suit up.
Wed, 01 Oct 2014 06:24:37 -0700
Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has right foot and ankle in a cast Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Fantasy Tip: Williams is likely to miss a couple of weeks. Darrin Reaves is expected to start in Week 5. However, Chris Ogbannaya could wind up being an active participant. Reaves ($3,000; 6% of your cap) is a bare-minimum play against the Chicago Bears this week.
Mon, 29 Sep 2014 15:49:42 -0700
The Carolina Panthers will sign free-agent RB Chris Ogbonnaya (Browns).
Fantasy Tip: Ogbonnaya probably will not start for the team but could receive some carries in Week 5. Owners in deeper leagues could consider adding him since the Panthers are thin at running back, and Ogbonnaya could get playing time. Owners on FantasyScore probably should avoid using him this week even though he will have a low cost.
Sat, 30 Aug 2014 07:22:27 -0700
The Cleveland Browns cut RB Chris Ogbonnaya Saturday, Aug. 30.
Wed, 27 Aug 2014 11:33:28 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya may be on the roster bubble, because TE MarQueis Gray and FB Ray Agnew III are receiving most of the snaps at fullback. Ogbonnaya may need to make the team based on his special teams play.
Sat, 28 Jun 2014 14:36:57 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Edwin Baker has had some good moments in spring practices and seems to be ahead of RB Chris Ogbonnaya in the pecking order. Ogbonnaya may be used mostly on special teams.
Wed, 11 Jun 2014 19:08:32 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Terrance West has been getting reps with the first-team offense in practice, and he has shown power through the first level and quickness when eluding defenders. He is expected to play a major role for the team offensively. RB Chris Ogbonnaya has also taken reps with the first team while the team takes it slow with RB Ben Tate.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the fact that Tate landed in one of the best spots for his game, his sketchy history when given the chance at lead-back duties, as well as some bouts with injury, make West a clear choice as an RB4 with weekly flex potential at minimum. Tate is a risky RB2.
Tue, 17 Dec 2013 11:19:33 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Willis McGahee (concussion) said he's feeling "pretty good" and expects to return in Week 16 after being inactive in Week 15.
Fantasy Tip: McGahee must first pass all of his concussion tests this week in order to play, so it's no sure thing just yet. The Browns could use Chris Ogbonnaya plenty to spell McGahee, too. McGahee is a weak play versus the New York Jets and should probably be on your bench.
Sun, 15 Dec 2013 09:36:22 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya will start at running back Week 15 in place of RB Willis McGahee (concussion).
Fri, 13 Dec 2013 12:05:04 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Willis McGahee (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 15 against the Chicago Bears. RB Chris Ogbonnaya will receive the majority of the workload in his place, with RB Fozzy Whittaker also seeing some work in relief.
Fantasy Tip: Ogbonnaya isn't a bad flex option, since he's going up against one of the worst rush defenses in the league, even though they may be improving a bit.
Thu, 21 Nov 2013 08:14:25 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) was healthier in Week 11 than he had been in recent weeks, which allowed him to have more carries.
Fri, 15 Nov 2013 11:10:20 -0800
Cleveland Browns TE MarQueis Gray (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 15, and has been ruled out for Week 11. OL Jason Pinkston (ankle) was limited in practice and is questionable. LB Paul Kruger (finger), FB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) and CB Christopher Owens (finger) all fully practiced and are probable.
Thu, 14 Nov 2013 15:38:33 -0800
Cleveland Browns TE MarQueis Gray (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 14. OG Jason Pinkston (ankle) was limited during practice. RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), LB Paul Kruger (finger) and CB Christopher Owens (finger) fully participated in practice.
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 15:07:00 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) practiced in full Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Ogbonnaya has more upside than Willis McGahee, but he's still technically No. 2 on the running back depth chart. He's a desperation flex play in the deepest of leagues.
Fri, 08 Nov 2013 07:58:03 -0800
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya will start receiving more carries and dip into RB Willis McGahee's workload. McGahee is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry in 100 rushes.
Tue, 05 Nov 2013 11:36:12 -0800
Updating a previous item, Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said RB Chris Ogbonnaya could start to receive more carries.
Fantasy Tip: Willis McGahee is still listed as the No. 1, but he's clearly running out of steam and has an extremely limited ceiling. Ogbonnaya has more upside and should be considered the more attractive running back in this backfield.
Sat, 02 Nov 2013 18:44:26 -0700
Cleveland Browns RBs Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker could receive more carries as the season goes on.
Fri, 01 Nov 2013 12:40:56 -0700
Cleveland Browns LB Quentin Groves (ankle) and DL Billy Winn (Quad) both were limited in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and are questionable for Week 9. DL Desmond Bryant (thumb), RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), DB Christopher Owens (finger) and LB Jabaal Sheard (wrist) all fully practiced and are probable.
Thu, 31 Oct 2013 14:19:01 -0700
Cleveland Browns LB Quentin Groves (ankle) and DE Billy Winn (quadriceps) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31. RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), CB Christopher Owens (finger) and LB Jabaal Sheard (wrist) practiced in full.
Wed, 30 Oct 2013 14:11:29 -0700
Cleveland Browns LB Quentin Groves (ankle) and DE Billy Winn (quadriceps) were limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. RB Willis McGahee (knee), RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), CB Christopher Owens (finger) and LB Jabaal Sheard (wrist) practiced in full.
Fantasy Tip: Expect both McGahee and Ogbonnaya to suit up in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens. However, both running backs are weak fantasy plays, especially against a tough Ravens run defense. McGahee's age is starting to show, and Fozzy Whittaker's opportunities are going up.
Fri, 25 Oct 2013 12:21:20 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 25, and is probable for Week 8.
Thu, 24 Oct 2013 15:11:26 -0700
Cleveland Browns FB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), DE Armonty Bryant (shoulder), LB Tank Carder (neck) and CB Christopher Owens (finger) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 24.
Wed, 23 Oct 2013 15:07:58 -0700
Cleveland Browns DE Armonty Bryant (shoulder), LB Tank Carder (neck), RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs) and CB Christopher Owens (finger) all fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.
Fri, 11 Oct 2013 12:12:36 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (concussion) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 11, and is probable for Week 6.
Thu, 10 Oct 2013 13:43:28 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (concussion) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 10.
Fantasy Tip: A return to full practice is a great sign that Ogbonnaya will be back as the starting fullback this weekend against the Detroit Lions. He carries little fantasy value, however, with Willis McGahee getting the majority of touches out of the backfield.
Wed, 09 Oct 2013 13:29:53 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (concussion), LB Quentin Groves (ankle) and LB Jabaal Sheard (knee) were limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Fri, 04 Oct 2013 10:08:04 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (concussion) suffered a concussion in the team's Week 5 game Thursday, Oct. 3.
Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Ogbonnaya will have over a week to prepare and pass concussion tests leading up to Week 6. Willis McGahee is clearly the back to own in Cleveland, though.
Thu, 03 Oct 2013 18:32:17 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (head) left the team's Week 5 game early and is being evaluated for a head injury. He is considered questionable to return.
Wed, 02 Oct 2013 15:16:59 -0700

Tue, 01 Oct 2013 17:21:53 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (thigh) practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Mon, 30 Sep 2013 18:34:52 -0700
Cleveland Browns FB Chris Ogbonnaya (thigh) was able to practice fully Monday, Sept. 30.
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 10:16:57 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Willis McGahee is reportedly in great shape after passing physicals with three separate teams.
Fantasy Tip: He may be healthy, but his place in a lackluster offense won't give him a ton of value. He should be owned in deep leagues, but starting him this week would be a mistake. Chris Ogbonnaya will likely be the better play against the Minnesota Vikings.
Thu, 19 Sep 2013 14:04:34 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Willis McGahee plans to play in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. He rushed for 731 yards in 10 games for the Denver Broncos last year before suffering a serious knee injury that kept him out for the final two months.
Fantasy Tip: We can't imagine that McGahee would be very effective if he played on such a quick turnaround. Chris Ogbonnaya should see the majority of the work Sunday, but he's a desperation start. McGahee should be picked up in most leagues.
Wed, 18 Sep 2013 15:36:35 -0700
The Cleveland Browns traded RB Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, Sept. 18, in exchange for a first-round draft pick next year.
Fantasy Tip: Sooo, the Browns will have two first-round picks in 2014, but they gave up a potential franchise player to do so. Willis McGahee will be signed to become the new lead back, but Chris Ogbonnaya could see valuable touches in the backfield, as well. McGahee could be a decent flex play in most weeks.
Wed, 18 Sep 2013 15:27:51 -0700
The Cleveland Browns will sign free-agent RB Willis McGahee (Broncos) to an undisclosed deal if he passes a physical.
Fantasy Tip: McGahee obviously is no Trent Richardson, but assuming he's healthy, he should have some fantasy value, albeit very limited. With T-Rich gone, McGahee should become the main back, possibly alongside Chris Ogbonnaya or Bobby Rainey.
Tue, 27 Aug 2013 18:22:32 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya showed an ability to block for RB Trent Richardson as the fullback during training camp and the preseason, as well as play tailback. Ogbonnaya's versatility made FB Owen Marecic, who was cut Tuesday, Aug. 27, expendable.
Thu, 22 Aug 2013 07:30:29 -0700
Cleveland Browns FB Chris Ogbonnaya will see some time at tailback this season due to the number of injuries at the position.
Sun, 04 Aug 2013 09:16:42 -0700
Cleveland Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya is listed as the starting fullback on the team's first depth chart.
Tue, 23 Jul 2013 16:40:47 -0700
Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner used RB Chris Ogbonnaya as a fullback in two-back sets during offseason workouts, but said the team is likely to keep a traditional fullback in the offense. When asked if Ogbonnaya, a tailback, can fill that role, Turner said, "He can do some of it." It appears FBs Owen Marecic and Brad Smelley will be fighting for one roster spot.
Thu, 18 Jul 2013 17:06:37 -0700
Cleveland Browns FB Owen Marecic is expected to be on the roster bubble during training camp because the team may prefer to keep a pass-catching running back over a traditional fullback. RB Chris Ogbonnaya and TE Brad Smelley worked in the backfield during offseason workouts.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 11:30:28 -0700
Cleveland Browns RBs Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya are expected to compete for the No. 2 running back during training camp.
