Richard Petty Motorsports announced that former Joe Gibbs Racing crew chief Mike Ford will join the team as the new crew chief for driver Aric Almirola. Ford will replace Greg Erwin with the No. 43 car starting with the race this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

Richard Petty Motorsports announced Wednesday, Jan. 4, that driver Aric Almirola will officially come on board to drive the No. 43 car in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series schedule. He will be replacing driver A.J. Allmendinger. Almirola's crew chief will be Greg Erwin. Sponsorship for the No. 43 car remains to be determined.

Former Roush Fenway Racing crew chief Greg Erwin, the crew chief for driver Greg Biffle, will join Richard Petty Motorsports and driver A.J. Allmendinger, effective immediately. Mike Shiplett has been working as Allmendinger's crew chief.
