The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned SP Trevor Bauer to Double-A Mobile and optioned Ps Sam Demel and Barry Enright and OF David Winfree to Triple-A Reno. Ps Chris Jakubauskas and Charles Brewer and INFs Rusty Ryal and Matt Davidson were also re-assigned.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have nine non-roster invitee pitchers headed to camp this spring. Ps Charles Brewer, Patrick Corbin, Mike DeMark, Chris Jakubauskas, Jason Lane, Jensen Lewis, Evan Marshall, Kevin Munson and Tyler Skaggs will each compete for a roster spot at spring training. Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 20, with their first full workout Feb. 21.

It is unlikely Baltimore Orioles 1B Jake Fox and P Chris Jakubauskas accept outright assignments to Triple-A Norfolk. They can become minor league free agents, and they figure to seek out better opportunities.

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Jakubauskas allowed five runs and seven hits over five innings in a loss Wednesday, June 29, against the St. Louis Cardinals. "You can't throw the ball down the middle of the plate. Flat out," Jakubauskas said. "That's the main thing with me. If I can hit the corners, I'm good to go. I can spot up. But if you miss over the plate, you get hurt."

Baltimore Orioles SP Jake Arrieta (elbow) had his next scheduled start pushed back from Wednesday, June 29, against the St. Louis Cardinals, to Saturday, July 2, against the Atlanta Braves, because of right elbow inflammation related to a pre-existing bone spur. Arrieta threw 40 pitches during a bullpen session Sunday, June 26, and reported no pain or discomfort. He is expected to throw another session Wednesday, June 29. P Chris Jakubauskas is expected to receive the spot start for Wednesday's game.

Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Jakubauskas allowed three runs and five hits over five innings with three walks and three strikeouts Friday, June 24, in a no-decision against the Cincinnati Reds. It's uncertain if he'll get another start. "Jak is doing what he does," manager Buck Showalter said. "He's a guy that's got no ego. 'What do you need? Here it is.' He's a guy who understands the reality of pitching."
