Miami Dolphins LB Cameron Wake's contract, originally reported as a four-year extension worth $49 million and $20 million guaranteed, is really a two-year extension that will pay him $17 million. Wake received a $7 million signing bonus, and his base salaries - $615,000 in 2012, $3.6 million in 2013 and $5.8 million in 2014 - are fully guaranteed. However, the last two years of his contract are contingent upon the Dolphins picking up a $3 million roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2015 league year. If the Dolphins don't want to pick up the option, they will either let Wake become a free agent or ask him to restructure his contract.

Updating a previous item, Miami Dolphins LB Cameron Wake skipped the start of the team's offseason workout program Tuesday, April 10. Wake has not decided how long to sit out, according to a source. That will be determined largely by the pace and progress of contract negotiations. Wake could be fined as much as $30,000 if he misses the team's mandatory three-day minicamp that will be held in May or June.

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland would not say where LB Cameron Wake will line up next season but expects him to put pressure on the quarterback whether he lines up. Wake is expected to be an outside linebacker when the team is in a 3-4 defensive alignment and a defensive end when they are in a 4-3 defensive alignment.
