Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has a leg up on the competition to start at running back in 2013 although Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin considers the competition wide open, and Daniel Thomas, Mike Gillislee, Jonas Gray and Marcus Thigpen also are all competing for the starting job.
Fantasy Tip: This is a battle that will likely play out through training camp and preseason games. Keep an eye on how the running backs are used in training camp and preseason. Also, Joe Philbin used a running back by committee approach in 2012, which hurt the value of all involved.

Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline is getting a look at returning punts at organized team activities. Hartline has never returned punts and will compete with RB Marcus Thigpen. "Possibly, but in what situations, I couldn't tell you," Hartline said of potentially returning kicks. "But they [coaching staff] made a point to tell me to go and catch punts every day."

Slaton carried four times for 22 yards in the preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys, while Thigpen had one carry for three yards and a seven-yard reception. Thigpen also had four kickoff returns for 24 yards.
