The Chicago Bears are likely will choose between DEs Nick Reed and Mario Addison to be the third defensive end for Week 1 because DE Corey Wootton (knee) likely will not play. It is believed Reed has the advantage because he can play on all special teams coverages and also has more experience than Addison.

Chicago Bears DL Vernon Gholston remained on the sidelined in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 22, while DLs Nick Reed and Mario Addison entered before he did. Gholston had his best practice of training camp last week, but he is well down in the rotation.
