NFL | T. Henry released from jail

The Associated Press reports former NFL RB Travis Henry was released from jail after posting a $400,000 bond on federal drug charges. The U.S. attorney's office said Thursday, Oct. 9, Henry must remain in his home, where he will be monitored electronically. He is not allowed any contact with co-defendant James Mack. Mack is scheduled to appear in court Friday, Oct. 10, to post $10,000 bond. He will also be subject to home detention and electronic monitoring.

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said he was troubled by the recent arrest of free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos) after an alleged cocaine deal. "Obviously, when a guy gets an opportunity, you're hoping that he is going to take advantage of it from a football side," Shanahan said. "And when he didn't do the things that he was supposed to do during the offseason program, obviously, we released him. But for him to experience what he's experienced right now, I wouldn't wish that on anybody and it's really a shame."

The Associated Press reports free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos) has been arrested following an alleged cocaine deal, according to federal authorities. The Drug Enforcement Administration says Henry is being held pending the filing of federal drug charges in federal court Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Denver.

Updating a previous report, Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos) confirmed he has tested positive for marijuana again and is subject to a one-year suspension by the league. He will begin serving the one-year suspension soon, according to a source close to Henry. There is a strong chance that Henry's career could be over after repeated issues with the law.

Josina Anderson, of MyFOXColorado.com, reports free-agent RB Travis Henry (Broncos) has tested positive for marijuana, according to a highly placed league source. "He is coming up for a year suspension," the source said. This is the second time Henry is facing a possible one-year suspension from the NFL.

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the Denver Broncos' decision to release RB Travis Henry Monday, June 2, had been coming for months. The team was unhappy with Henry all spring. The final straw came in the last week when Henry stopped attending the team's organized activities. Although Henry had suffered a hamstring injury, he was required to attend workouts.

"Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL, we have to make decisions that are in the best interests of our organization and its goal of winning a Super Bowl," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team."
