ESPN's Josina Anderson reported that the Bears have "serious interest" in Knighton to be the anchor of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's 3-4 front. Knighton played the last two years for new Bears head coach John Fox in Denver. Knighton is regarded as one of the better run stoppers in the league.

He said he'd even be willing to take "somewhat of a hometown discount," but Knighton doesn't feel that the interest in mutual on the Broncos' part at this point. Head coach Gary Kubiak said the Broncos hope to retain as many of their free agents as possible, including Knighton.

Impending free-agent DT Terrance Knighton should be retained and used at nose tackle, with Miller and DE DeMarcus Ware being used as outside linebackers.

The Denver Broncos defense has forced a three-and-out for a punt on 30.4 percent of possessions by opposing offenses after 14 games, which leads the league. "You always want to get off the field," DT Terrance Knighton said. "It helps now that we're running the ball more on offense, because we're a little fresher when we get back out there. Maybe it hurts guys like Von (Miller) and DeMarcus (Ware) who, if we were on the field more, they'd probably be fighting for the sack lead ... But everybody on this defense wants to just win so for me, for everybody, let's get a three-and-out and get off the field."

Knighton earned a base salary of $1 million in 2013 to go along with $1 million in bonuses. For 2014, he's on the Broncos' books for a base salary of $1.5 million with a $1 million roster bonus still to come.

Knighton's sack was key as the Broncos withstood New England's comeback to win 26-16. Knighton pushed past Patriots OL Logan Mankins to reach Brady. "The protection lined up right. It was the same thing I'd been seeing on film. I knew exactly what I was going to get. I knew what type of block he'd give me. I had to make the play. I did what I was supposed to do," Knighton said.

Jacksonville Jaguars DL Terrance Knighton (eye) is almost fully recovered from a left eye injury suffered while trying to break up a bar fight in early April. In addition, he checked in at trainingcamp at less than 330 pounds. "I feel great and I'm just ready to get out there now," Knighton said Sunday, July 29. He remains on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, and the team is being very cautious with his return. They don't want to put him in contact drills until his eye is fully healed.
