Giants | Will sign Rashad Jennings

Tue, 11 Mar 2014 14:19:50 -0700

The New York Giants will be signing unrestricted free-agent RB Rashad Jennings (Raiders) to an undisclosed deal.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings should be in the mix for meaningful touches and could have borderline starting value for fantasy owners, depending on his role. Andre Brown has yet to re-sign, and bringing in Jennings, along with the re-signing of Peyton Hillis, could spell the end of Brown's time in New York.

Raiders | Darren McFadden probable

Fri, 20 Dec 2013 14:12:04 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (knee, ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 20, and is probable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: In what may surprise many, McFadden will play against the San Diego Chargers. However, he'll be limited to a backup role to Rashad Jennings. Jennings' owners probably won't be happy. He's still playable, but more so as a flex than in a starting RB spot. McFadden is a risky play, regardless.

Raiders | Darren McFadden limited

Wed, 18 Dec 2013 16:04:48 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (knee, ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: There's a chance that DMC returns against the San Diego Chargers, but don't hold your breath. More importantly, don't put all your chips on McFadden in your championship game. Rashad Jennings has earned more carries even if McFadden returns to the lineup.

Wed, 11 Dec 2013 15:27:23 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: This is great news for Jennings' chances of playing in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs. His performance and health has been superior to that of Darren McFadden for the past month, so expect him to receive the majority of work this weekend, even if DMC plays. Jennings will be a midrange RB2 if he passes the remaining concussion tests later this week.

Raiders | Rashad Jennings still not cleared

Fri, 06 Dec 2013 17:25:00 -0800

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) has still not been cleared to play in the Week 14 game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: If Jennings is cleared, he will have the carries almost entirely to himself with RBs Darren McFadden (ankle) and Jeremy Stewart (ankle, knee) already ruled out. Jennings might be a solid RB2 or flex fantasy play, but he is extremely risky to start right now until he is officially given the green light.

Fri, 06 Dec 2013 14:53:56 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 6, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to wait for the inactive list to see if he will play this week. If he is able to play, he should be considered a solid starting option at running back for owners.

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings is on the right track to playing Sunday against the New York Jets after being cleared to practice. With signs looking ominous that Darren McFadden will play this weekend, Jennings' value will receive another short-term boost. If he can play, Jennings is a solid RB2 option.

Raiders | Darren McFadden has ankle injury

Wed, 04 Dec 2013 15:30:04 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (ankle) missed practice with an ankle injury Wednesday, Dec. 4, after he missed three games this season with a strained right hamstring. "He actually injured the ankle in the game the other day and it was (hurt) more than what we had initially thought," head coach Dennis Allen said. "He wasn't able to go today and hopefully we'll be able to get him out there soon, but I don't know." It's likely that McFadden sits out against the New York Jets in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Make plans to be without McFadden, who had only five carries in the team's Week 13 loss. Rashad Jennings (concussion), assuming he is cleared to play, is a solid RB2 against the New York Jets.

Raiders | Darren McFadden will play

Wed, 27 Nov 2013 13:37:44 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) will play in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Nov. 28, for the first time since straining his right hamstring Nov. 3. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said earlier this week that they would ride the "hot hand" of RB Rashad Jennings. "The guy that's in there and being the most effective will be the guy that gets the opportunity," head coach Dennis Allen said. "But I see them both getting a chance to carry the ball. We'll see how it goes. We'll play (it) out as the game plays along."

Fantasy Tip: Jennings could easily see more of a workload in this one and should be seen as an RB 2 or flex. McFadden is more of a flex option as they look to ease him back into the mix.

Raiders | Darren McFadden does some work

Mon, 25 Nov 2013 14:24:23 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) did some running Monday, Nov. 25. Head coach Dennis Allen said the team will see how McFadden feels before deciding on his status for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden likely will regain his starting job if he is able to play. If he is able to play, he should be a low-end No. 2 or flex option that comes with some risk because he could be limited. Rashad Jennings would be a solid No. 2 running back if McFadden misses another game.

Fri, 22 Nov 2013 13:06:00 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) has been ruled out for the team's Week 12 game.

Raiders | Timeshare coming at running back

Mon, 18 Nov 2013 05:33:06 -0800

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen suggested there will be a timeshare at running back when RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) returns. RB Rashad Jennings has rushed 57 times for 340 yards (6.0 yards per carry) in the last three games.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden's stock is at a career low. He still needs to be rostered, but he's probably not worth playing until we see how this committee will work.

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 15, and has been ruled out for Week 11.

Raiders | Rashad Jennings proving his worth

Tue, 12 Nov 2013 10:11:12 -0800

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said RB Rashad Jennings has earned increased playing time, even when RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) returns from his injury. Jennings has 190 rushing yards and has caught nine passes for 93 yards in his last two games filling in for McFadden. "It's a production business," Allen said, "and when he's had the opportunity to go in there, he has produced. When you do that, you get more opportunities."

Fantasy Tip: Jennings should now be owned in most leagues, at least as insurance for those that also have McFadden on roster. Once DMC returns, Jennings could be used as a flex in deeper formats.

Raiders | Darren McFadden ruled out

Fri, 08 Nov 2013 12:52:34 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Rashad Jennings likely will receive most of the carries with McFadden out of the lineup. Jennings likely will not be more than a flex option for owners not in point-per-reception leagues. He could be a No. 2 running back or flex option for PPR owners.

Raiders | Darren McFadden sits

Wed, 06 Nov 2013 12:17:57 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It is looking increasingly like McFadden will not be available. If he can't go, Rashad Jennings is likely to get the bulk of the work and is worth an add in your league if you are looking for running back depth.

Raiders | Worried about Darren McFadden

Mon, 04 Nov 2013 15:25:06 -0800

The Oakland Raiders are more worried about the injury to RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) than they are about QB Terrelle Pryor (knee), who is listed as day-to-day. "Obviously, with hamstrings, you never know, with Darren. So, probably a little more concern with Darren than there'd be with Terrelle but we'll see how both of those guys are doing in the morning and that will probably dictate what their availability is going to be on Wednesday," head coach Dennis Allen said. Pryor said his sprained right knee felt fine. McFadden has already missed one game after initially injuring his hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: DMC isn't a stranger to injuries or healing slowly from them. Don't be shocked if he's held out in Week 10. As a result, grab Rashad Jennings off the waiver wire immediately if you own McFadden or are looking for RB depth.

Raiders | Rashad Jennings goes over 100 yards

Sun, 03 Nov 2013 17:27:41 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings carried 15 times for 102 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, coming on for the injured RB Darren McFadden (hamstring). Jennings also added seven catches for 74 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings should be added in all fantasy leagues, as he had an impressive performance. He could make for a nice low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option if he gets the start in Week 10 against the New York Giants, and he is a solid RB2 option in points-per-reception (PPR) leagues.

Raiders | Rashad Jennings limited

Thu, 10 Oct 2013 15:37:20 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 10. It was Jennings' second straight day of practice, and head coach Dennis Allen was "encouraged" by his progress. However, it's uncertain if Jennings will play in Week 6 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings will most likely be listed as questionable this weekend, but he probably has a much better chance of playing than Darren McFadden (hamstring). Expect Jennings to share more of the load with Marcel Reece. Against a stout Chiefs defense, Jennings shouldn't be relied on as anything more than a flex play in deep leagues.

Raiders | Darren McFadden could sit out several weeks

Fri, 04 Oct 2013 14:38:15 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) likely won't return to the starting lineup until Oct. 27 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which would give him two-plus weeks and a bye to recover from his strained right hamstring. "Just walking around and stuff you can feel it a little bit. It's tight, sore, so hamstrings are one of those things you want to be careful with. I'd rather miss one or two games than to come back and pop it and miss four or five," McFadden said.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't come as a shocker. Everyone knows McFadden is extremely injury-prone. The news that he may miss multiple weeks now makes it even more important to grab Rashad Jennings off the waiver wire, if he's still available.

Raiders | Rashad Jennings primed for bigger workload

Fri, 04 Oct 2013 14:25:08 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings is expected to be the lead running back in Week 5 against the San Diego Chargers with RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) unlikely to play. Jennings rushed 14 times for 45 yards and had eight catches for 71 yards in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins. At the beginning of the season, head coach Dennis Allen envisioned Jennings as a "thumper," or physical complement to McFadden.

Jennings has impressed offensive coordinator Greg Olson with his work ethic and physical style of running; Jennings is a "fitness nut" and sleeps in a hyperbaric chamber to increase blood oxygen and promote healing. "He seems to be a tougher player, a tougher runner than I saw a year ago," Olson said. "It's not that he was a poor player by any means, but I just didn't see the physicality that he has shown so far here in Oakland." Week 5 could see Jennings, FB Marcel Reece and RB Jeremy Stewart share carries out of the backfield.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings is your best bet to start, even over Reece, because of his pass-catching abilities. Jennings should be owned everywhere as a handcuff to McFadden, and he makes for a solid bye week filler this weekend.

Raiders | Marcel Reece questionable

Fri, 04 Oct 2013 14:05:53 -0700

Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is questionable for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: If you can afford to, it would be smart to err on the side of caution and leave Reece on your bench this weekend, with the Raiders' Week 5 game starting late Sunday night. All indications point to Rashad Jennings starting and receiving the majority of touches.

Raiders | Darren McFadden doubtful

Fri, 04 Oct 2013 13:54:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is doubtful for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden should be left to your bench this weekend, especially since his matchup with the San Diego Chargers is set for a late Sunday evening start. With Marcel Reece (knee) questionable, expect Rashad Jennings to see the bulk of the workload. Pick him up immediately if he's still available as a handcuff to DMC.

Raiders | No timetable for Darren McFadden

Mon, 30 Sep 2013 15:36:25 -0700

Updating previous reports, Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen refuses to say when the team might have RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) back, but he doesn't think the injury is very serious. "I wouldn't get into characterizing whether it's minor, major," Allen said. "He's got a hamstring (strain). I don't expect him to be out a long time but we'll see how he responds. I mean, it's one day after a game."

Fantasy Tip: We already knew McFadden was injury-prone, so this comes as no surprise. You'll have to monitor his status this week before making the call as to whether to keep him in your starting lineup. Marcel Reece (knee) and Rashad Jennings could split the load if DMC doesn't play this weekend. Jennings is a must acquire off the waiver wire if you own McFadden or Reece.

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) avoided serious injury with a hamstring issue in the team's Week 4 game. McFadden's status for the team's Week 5 game is still uncertain.

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen praised RB Rashad Jennings for running hard when he was inserted into the lineup for RB Darren McFadden (hamstring). "He went in there and ran the ball hard," Allen said. "He did an admirable job of filling in for McFadden."

Raiders | Counting on Rashad Jennings as backup

Tue, 13 Aug 2013 20:08:24 -0700

The Oakland Raiders are counting on RB Rashad Jennings to serve as the backup to RB Darren McFadden, and he tries to keep himself healthy and in shape in every way possible. He eats a gluten-free diet and sticks to organic foods. He also stretches every night, and has a regular routine of pilates, acupuncture, yoga and massage. Jennings also sleeps in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. "I love to practice and I love to stay on the field. It keeps you healthy. Playing this game is important to me," Jennings said. "The way I eat and take care of my body is pretty important."

Fantasy Tip: Jennings will back up Darren McFadden, who has never made it through an NFL season without an injury. Fantasy owners will want to scoop up Jennings later on draft day as a handcuff.

Raiders | Praise for Latavius Murray

Wed, 29 May 2013 10:00:04 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen praised the work of rookie RB Latavius Murray, saying he's "picked up everything offensively from a schematic standpoint, assignment-wise. ... He's done a nice job in pass protection. That's one of the things you see with young backs that they struggle with at times."

Fantasy Tip: Rashad Jennings is widely considered the top handcuff to Darren McFadden, but Murray has more explosiveness and could easily overtake Jennings. Keep an eye on Murray this summer.
