Detroit Lions LB Zack Follett (neck) was back on the practice field Friday, July 29. Nine months ago, he suffered a career-threatening neck injury and he said he never thought he would be about to put on a helmet again. He received full medical clearance from the Lions earlier this week. A year after almost being handed a starting job, Follett will now need to earn a roster spot during training camp.

Detroit Lions linebackers coach Matt Burke said it is his understanding that LB Zack Follett (neck) is on track in his rehab from the neck injury he suffered this season.

Detroit Lions LB Zack Follett (neck) said he is happy that he received an exclusive rights tender offer from the team but is not sure if he will be able to again because of his neck injury, reports Tim Twentyman, of The Detroit News. Follett said he has been rehabbing his neck and believes he will be ready for training camp but is not sure if he will be able to handle the hitting during practice.

The Detroit Lions have given one-year qualifying tender offers to restricted free agents G Dylan Gandy (fourth round), S John Wendling (sixth round), CB Chris Houston, PK Dave Rayner and DE Turk McBride (second-round), reports Tim Twentyman of The Detroit News. The team also gave qualifying tenders to exclusive rights free agents LB Zack Follett, FB Jerome Felton and DT Andre Fluellen.

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions LB Zack Follett said the term "china doll" was a poor choice of words when referring to QB Matthew Stafford in a radio interview earlier Tuesday, Jan. 25, reports Dave Birkett and Carlos Monarrez, of the Detroit Free Press. "I was just, basically, referring to how he's been injured," Follett said. "I guess I'd say it's a wrong choice of words, obviously. I didn't mean anything real impactful by it in saying that he can't lead this team."

Detroit Lions LB Zack Follett said QB Matthew Stafford (shoulder) is "a china doll right now," referring to his oft-injured quarterback, according to NFL.com. "Stafford, good guy," Follett told KFIG-AM. "He's a china doll right now. Anytime he gets hit, he goes down."
