Thu, 06 Jun 2013 11:39:12 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden has received all of the snaps with the first-team offense during organized team activities and minicamp. He believes he had made progress during the workouts but knows he has more things to work on before the season starts. "I'm right where I want to be," Weeden said. "There's some things that I need to work on that I maybe didn't hit when I was out here, but overall, I think my progress was pretty good. We had 16 practices, and I think each practice got better for myself and not only me but for the offense, the flow, how fast we were playing. They bumped the play clock down. We were still operating really, really fast. So, yeah, I'm pleased with it. Am I satisfied? Absolutely not." Fantasy Tip: Weeden appears to be the clear favorite over Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer for the starting quarterback job. Even though he has some weapons around him, he should be considered a weak backup fantasy quarterback in leagues this offseason.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 15:45:49 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden has looked exceptional in the last three team practices that were open to the media, according to ESPNCleveland.com writer Tony Grossi. Grossi acknowledges that any passer with a little experience and a strong arm should excel in such drills, but Weeden also demonstrated his growth by making a read and adjustment for a big play in one of the sessions. Grossi believes that Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer will share time with the second team, because Weeden won't have competition for the starting job. Fantasy Tip: Weeden may be worth a flier in a standard league, but he'll have to do a lot more than this to prove that he's more than a low-end QB2.
Tue, 28 May 2013 16:52:48 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer has impressed with his quick release, leadership skills and attitude. He does not possess the strong arm the Browns would prefer. However, he is viewed as an upgrade over QB Thaddeus Lewis (Lions) as the team's likely third quarterback. Fantasy Tip: Hoyer has no fantasy value as a third quarterback and would have marginal worth even if he somehow wound up in the starting role.
Fri, 24 May 2013 14:22:34 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer said he believes he can become a starting quarterback in the NFL. "No doubt I think I have the capability to be a starting quarterback," Hoyer said. "When you get back out on the field and get a taste of playing, you realize for a guy like me who hadn't played as much over three years how much you miss being out on the field." Head coach Rob Chudzinski said Hoyer is currently the No. 3 quarterback in the depth chart.
Tue, 21 May 2013 09:23:57 -0700 Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner has downplayed the team's signing of QB Brian Hoyer, and Turner also has praised QB Brandon Weeden for his relentless work ethic. "I think there have been more stories written about Brian Hoyer being a Brown over the last four months than probably any player in history," Turner said. "He was released. He was available. He's a guy that has been with some good teams in backup situations. He's played very little football, but I do think we like his skill set." Fantasy Tip: It's clear that Turner and the coaching staff have anointed the quarterback job as Weeden's to lose over Jason Campbell and Hoyer. Assuming Weeden doesn't fall flat on his face in training camp, expect him to be starting for Cleveland in Week 1.
Sun, 19 May 2013 18:30:23 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Thaddeus Lewis is not expected to make the team following the signing of QB Brian Hoyer. QB Brandon Weeden is expected to be the starter, with QB Jason Campbell as the backup and Hoyer as the third QB.
Sun, 19 May 2013 10:37:12 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Jason Campbell is expected to enter training camp as the favorite for the No. 2 quarterback job but will have to compete with QB Brian Hoyer for the role.
Sun, 19 May 2013 10:14:11 -0700 The New York Jets did not express interest or make an offer to Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer before he signed with the Browns.
Sat, 18 May 2013 13:18:34 -0700 The Cleveland Browns are expected to take QBs Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, Brian Hoyer and Thaddeus Lewis to training camp this season.
Fri, 17 May 2013 16:11:34 -0700 Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer will begin as the No. 3 quarterback but will have the chance to work his way up the depth chart during organized team activities and training camp.
