If convicted, Goodson would face a minimum three-year prison sentence under the Graves Act. Goodson's defense is confident they will show that he was not in possession of the gun. Goodson also faces a third-degree possession of a loaded handgun and marijuana and paraphernalia charges. Fantasy Tip: Even if Goodson avoids serious jail time in this case, that doesn't mean that he won't be suspended for a good chunk of the season by the NFL. As a result, he's a risky handcuff option to Chris Ivory on draft day.

Goodson didn't participate or watch the team's workouts, and his future with the team is uncertain. If Goodson pleads guilty or is convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, he'll be subject to the Graves Act, which is a New Jersey law that carries a minimum of three years in jail.

Fantasy Tip: If the team does decide to release Goodson, Chris Ivory probably would be a bigger favorite to win the starting running back job this season. He likely would be a solid No. 2 running back on most fantasy teams.

Goodson was being held on $50,000 full cash bail. Fantasy Tip: A suspension for Goodson from the league could be looming. Until we know more, he shouldn't be worth drafting. He was set to be the No. 2 back behind Chris Ivory to begin with. That task may now fall to Bilal Powell for a good portion of the early season.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets are putting together a somewhat crowded backfield. Bilal Powell, Joe McKnight and offseason signee Mike Goodson are also in the mix. Ivory has the best combo of size and speed among them, though, and the Jets' desire to work out a long-term contract suggests that he'll be an interesting mid-round fantasy pick.

Goodson has solid speed, and he has the ability to catch the ball and go for big plays. He had three receptions for at least 40 yards last season with the Oakland Raiders. Fantasy Tip: Goodson is likely to form a tandem with RB Bilal Powell, with RB Joe McKnight also in the conversation. Goodson is expected to replace RB Shonn Greene, who moved on to the Tennessee Titans, but he isn't likely to get 20 carries per game. He should be considered more of a low-end RB2 or flex play for fantasy purposes heading into 2013. All of this hinges on the team not following through on reported interest for Ahmad Bradshaw.
