New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis is likely to be active in Week 13 against the Washington Redskins with RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) inactive. Hillis will back up RB Andre Brown.
Fri, 22 Nov 2013 14:57:58 -0800
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin doesn't expect to change things up when it comes to the roles of his running backs. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, RB Andre Brown was the lead back with RB Brandon Jacobs serving as the goal-line and short-yardage option. Brown had 18 carries for 75 percent of the workload, with Jacobs having five touches. RB Michael Cox will likely continue to be used on special teams, meaning RB Peyton Hillis would be inactive for the second straight week.
Fantasy Tip: Now that Jacobs has the lead role, he's basically a must-start, especially with a juicy matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. Jacobs will be inconsistent in his production, making him a flex play in deep leagues.
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 08:04:56 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (soreness) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Mon, 11 Nov 2013 20:51:03 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) was sore after the Week 10 win against the Oakland Raiders, but head coach Tom Coughlin said he was otherwise fine.
Fantasy Tip: Brown burst onto the scene in his regular season debut, and will be a hot addition off the waiver wire by fantasy owners this week. He faces a tough matchup against a decent Green Bay Packers rush defense, but he should still be a decent low-end RB2 or flex play if he draws the start in Week 11.
Sun, 10 Nov 2013 19:10:57 -0800
Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) was only expected to see limited carries, but instead carried a career-high 28 times for a career-high 106 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 game against the Oakland Raiders.
Fantasy Tip: If Brown is available off the waiver wire in your fantasy league, he is definitely worth a look as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option. He certainly looked a lot more explosive than retreads Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs, and could get a bulk of the carries down the stretch if he can remain healthy.
Sun, 10 Nov 2013 13:12:19 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown rushed 30 times for 115 yards and a touchdown in Week 10.
Fantasy Tip: Not bad for a season debut. Look for him to continue to be featured.
Sat, 09 Nov 2013 06:41:21 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is ready to go for the team's Week 10 game. Brown hopes he gets the ball early and often in his season debut. "I just hope there are no limitations and [they let it] ride," Brown said. "I hope not. This is nine weeks of sitting on my ass not doing anything."
Thu, 07 Nov 2013 13:22:11 -0800
The New York Giants activated RB Andre Brown (leg) from the short-term Injured Reserve Thursday, Nov. 7, and placed DT Shaun Rogers (knee) on the Injured Reserve in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen how much Brown will be used in his season debut against the Oakland Raiders this weekend, but he must be owned in all leagues. He'll become the main back in the second half of the season.
Thu, 07 Nov 2013 07:55:02 -0800
New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) is likely headed to Injured Reserve to make room for RB Andre Brown (leg) on the active roster.
Fantasy Tip: If you haven't already, you should seriously considering dropping Wilson from your roster. The move will likely become official later today.
Wed, 06 Nov 2013 20:38:58 -0800
New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis is expected to be a big part of the team's plan for Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders. Hillis is expected to be the primary option, with RBs Andre Brown and Brandon Jacobs sprinkled into the equation. "I'm pretty sure they are going to switch us in, switch us out," Brown said Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Fantasy Tip: For fantasy purposes, Hillis is your best best as a low-end RB2 or flex play, followed by Jacobs. Brown isn't worth using in any fantasy format, as he makes his way back from injury. However, monitor the situation and be ready to grab him off the waiver wire if he plays better than expected. The job is likely an open competition right now, with the hot hand getting the bulk of the carries going forward.
Wed, 06 Nov 2013 10:29:16 -0800
The New York Giants have to decide whether to activate RB Andre Brown (leg) from the Injury Reserve/Designated to Return list and DT Markus Kuhn (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list by Thursday, Nov. 7.
Mon, 04 Nov 2013 13:24:26 -0800
Updating a previous report, an MRI showed RB David Wilson (neck) significant improvement in his recovery from a neck injury, but he has not been cleared to resume football activities at this point. Wilson will undergo another evaluation in a few weeks.
Fantasy Tip: Wilson will be out for a few more weeks, so Andre Brown, Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs will handle the carries for now. Brown is expected to be activated this week and should be owned in all leagues. Hillis and Jacobs likely will see their fantasy value drop because of the return of Brown. If you've been stashing Wilson, this might be the time to give up if you're in need of the roster space.
Mon, 04 Nov 2013 11:39:52 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) was given a package of plays for the team's Week 10 game. "The coaches just told me to be ready," said Brown. "They threw me some special plays out there. They want to get me back in football shape. They want to kind of ease me into this thing. That's what they plan on doing and we'll go from there."
Tue, 29 Oct 2013 16:25:24 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is 100 percent healthy and recovered from his fractured left leg, but he said he will wear a protective shin guard "for the rest of my career." Head coach Tom Coughlin said he's "going to have to wait and see" when Brown will return. It's unclear if RBs Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs will have a roster spot when Brown returns.
Fantasy Tip: It appears as if Brown is much closer to returning than David Wilson (neck). Brown could return in Week 10. Grab him off the waiver wire now and stash him if he's still available.
Tue, 29 Oct 2013 16:21:00 -0700
New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) will be re-evaluated by doctors next week.
Fantasy Tip: Wilson is running out of time to make a significant impact in the second half of the season, especially with Andre Brown (leg) expected to be back soon, as well. You'll have to continue stashing him for now.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 13:53:29 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he feels great and expects to play after the team's Week 9 bye.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 11:25:35 -0700
New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) said he injured hamstring is feeling good and expects to play after the team's Week 9 bye. He said he could have played Week 8 but wanted to be cautious.
Fantasy Tip: The team's backfield situation will get more complicated after the bye because Andre Brown will return to the team. Owners should wait until next week to get a better idea of how the playing time will be divided between the players. Jacobs likely will receive a lesser role once everyone returns healthy.
Thu, 24 Oct 2013 12:28:17 -0700
New York Giants RB David Wilson (neck) has been ruled out for Week 8.
Fantasy Tip: Those that are stashing Wilson need to keep in mind that Andre Brown (leg) is also nearing a return. The G-Men's backfield position is likely to change drastically in the coming weeks.
Thu, 17 Oct 2013 18:31:57 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he expects to receive a situational role when he initially comes off the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list. "Whatever I can do. I'll have probably a different role when I get back," Brown said. "Third down and stuff like that. It's just going to be a different role. As long as I can mold into whatever role they put me in, I'll be OK."
Thu, 17 Oct 2013 09:26:38 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is practicing with running backs Thursday, Oct. 17.
Sat, 12 Oct 2013 08:40:41 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he hopes to practice when he is eligible to next week. Brown will not be able to play until Week 10 but appears to be on track to play in that game. Brown started the season on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list.

Mon, 02 Sep 2013 11:16:18 -0700
The New York Giants could consider placing RB Andre Brown (leg) or OT David Diehl (thumb) on the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list.
Fri, 30 Aug 2013 12:17:59 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks because of the fractured leg he suffered in the final preseason game. Brown is a candidate for the Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list.
Fantasy Tip: Brown likely will miss the first four weeks of the season and could miss eight weeks if he goes on short-term IR, so he will have to be stashed on the bench until he returns. He should be a late-round flier in most leagues because he likely will have a role in the team's running game when he returns.
Fri, 30 Aug 2013 10:02:17 -0700
The New York Giants are "unlikely" to sign free-agent RB Brandon Jacobs (49ers) after RB Andre Brown (leg) went down with a broken bone in his leg.
Fri, 30 Aug 2013 06:26:46 -0700
Updating previous reports, New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he has a tiny crack in his left fibula. It's the same leg he broke last season. He doesn't believe he'll need to go on the short-term Injured Reserve.
Fantasy Tip: The team will probably be cautious since it's the same leg he broke last season and the emergence of David Wilson. There's no real reason to rush Brown back. Four-to-six weeks is probably a starting point.
Thu, 29 Aug 2013 20:17:45 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he will not need surgery on his fractured leg. Brown said he thinks he can return in a few weeks but needs to undergo more tests.
Thu, 29 Aug 2013 18:37:30 -0700
Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) suffered a fractured leg in the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 29.
Fantasy Tip: Brown has been a solid pick in fantasy drafts to this point because he was expected to receive short-yardage and other carries, but this injury hurts his value. It is not known how long he will be out. David Wilson likely will get a bigger role in the running game and should be seen as a No. 2 fantasy running back.
Thu, 29 Aug 2013 18:12:27 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (undisclosed) went to the locker room after suffering an apparent leg injury during the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 29.
Fri, 23 Aug 2013 10:51:34 -0700
New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said the team expects RB David Wilson to be the starter in the regular season. "We expect [Wilson] to be our starter, and be in the backfield with RB Andre Brown, who had a terrific season going last year until he got hurt," Reese said. "[Brown's] had the injury bug a little bit since he's been in the league. But if he can stay healthy, and David Wilson comes on like we expect him too, we think we can have a pretty dynamic backfield."
Fantasy Tip: Even with Wilson winning the job, it is expected that Andre Brown will still get his share of the carries, especially in short yardage and goal line situations. This is still very much a situation that could play out as a running back by committee role.
Sun, 11 Aug 2013 18:19:35 -0700
New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was agitated after a fumble by RB Andre Brown in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 10, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. "It concerns me. It concerns Andre, too. I don't care how much and how long you play the game - there are certain things that have to happen before you run the ball," Coughlin said Sunday, Aug. 11. "You have to look the ball in if it is going to be a toss or pitch or pass. First, you got to catch the darn thing and cover it up before you can go on to the next objective. I am sure he will learn a lot. To his credit he went right back in and did some good things."
Fantasy Tip: Brown and David Wilson really decided little in their battle for the No. 1 job. Brown fumbled, Wilson didn't block well, and the two combined for 39 yards on nine carries. Many feel Wilson will win the starting job, and have the most fantasy appeal, but that can still change.
Tue, 06 Aug 2013 08:45:42 -0700
New York Giants RBs Andre Brown and David Wilson are battling for the No. 1 tailback job in training camp and the preseason. It is expected that whichever of these guys shows the most as a pass-blocker will get a bulk of the carries. "You really can't play unless you can protect the quarterback," head coach Tom Coughlin said Tuesday, Aug. 6. "Fortunately, those two young men as well as our other running backs have had the opportunity to look at (former RB Ahmad Bradshaw's) film and get a better understanding of the complexities of our protection packages."
Fantasy Tip: A split in carries similar to years past is expected, with Wilson being the more favorable fantasy option at this juncture. He is expected to be the more explosive runner, and that big-play ability has fantasy owners nabbing him with an average draft position (ADP) of late third round or early fourth round in leagues of 12 or more teams.
Thu, 01 Aug 2013 11:29:09 -0700
New York Giants RBs David Wilson and Andre Brown are listed as co-starters at running back on the team's first depth chart. Wilson is also listed as the main kick returner.
Fantasy Tip: Both players are competing for the starting running back job, but Wilson is expected to win the job at some point. Wilson and Brown could be mid-range No. 3 fantasy running backs this season because Wilson probably will start and has big play ability while Brown is expected to be used in short-yard and goal line situations, which will let him pick up some touchdowns.
Thu, 18 Jul 2013 09:39:45 -0700
The New York Giants are likely to go with the hot hand at running back when choosing between RB David Wilson and RB Andre Brown, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN New York. While Wilson may have the upper hand in terms of who will be the lead back, he has a lot to prove in training camp to earn the coaches trust, according to Youngmisuk.
Fantasy Tip: There is still not a lot of clarity in how the backfield will play out for the Giants in 2013, with most signs pointing to a running back by committee approach. This will be one of the more fascinating battles to watch play out in training camp.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 09:56:15 -0700
New York Giants RB David Wilson's number of kickoff returns will be affected by his workload at running back, hinted special teams coordinator Tom Quinn. "We'll see how that all plays out," Quinn began. "Obviously, he would like to do it. He's done it very well, but we'll have to see how it all comes down with where he is on the depth chart and what he's doing on offense. It might be maybe for one or two or you don't need him for one or two, but we've got other guys that we feel good about. They feel good about the scheme and the system that's in place."
Fantasy Tip: In other words, however much time Andre Brown earns over Wilson in the backfield affects however many kickoffs the Giants will feel that Wilson can handle. Fantasy owners, in most formats, would prefer to see the smallish Wilson participate on special teams less often, but that sounds unlikely unless he becomes the featured back -- which is unlikely. Still, he's obviously an intriguing RB2 or RB3.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 11:21:15 -0700
New York Giants RB David Wilson said he is not concerned about splitting carries with RB Andre Brown in 2013. "I ain't worried about the carries, I'm not worried about yards, or who's got the most touchdowns. I'm just worried about both of us working together and being effective for the team and having a positive running game."
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 11:18:27 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he feels great during organized team activities after suffering a season ending leg injury in Week 12 of the 2012 season. "I feel great," Brown said Thursday. "Legs feel 100 percent. I'm running, jumping around, doing cartwheels and everything. I'm 100 percent in every drill."
Fantasy Tip: While injuries are not expected to be a concern for Brown to start the 2013 season, splitting carries with David Wilson will be a concern from a fantasy perspective. For now, consider both players to be no more than a No. 2 fantasy running back.
Wed, 29 May 2013 09:48:38 -0700
The New York Giants are expected to use RB Andre Brown as their goal line specialist.
Fantasy Tip: David Wilson figures to garner more sustained work, but the difference between their workloads could wind up shrinking as the year goes on. New York wants a 1-2 punch, most likely, and though Wilson is the better PPR option overall, Brown's fantasy value is less costly and could wind up paying better dividends.
Thu, 16 May 2013 15:05:55 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown could be poised to start in 2013. "This is my year," Brown said. "I have to go out there and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of."
Fantasy Tip: Brown will compete with David Wilson for the starting job in 2013, but the end result may be closer to a split in carries. Keep an eye on how the two running backs are used in training camp and preseason games to get a better idea of what the Giants plans are.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 11:08:05 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown signed his franchise tender, which will now pay him a one-year non-guaranteed deal worth $2.023 million for 2013.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 12:35:09 -0700
New York Giants RB Andre Brown is looking for a huge year in 2013, and realizes how important it is for him to go out and produce. "This is my year. I have to go out there and have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of."
"I have to outdo last year's stats. Eight touchdowns – I want 22. I want 1,300 (yards) this year. That's the steppingstone. I have to erase last year's stats and show I can do better."
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 14:06:36 -0700
New York Giants restricted free-agent RB Andre Brown has signed an injury waiver in order to take part in offseason workouts. He has not signed his tender offer at this point.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 10:28:59 -0700
New York Giants RB David Wilson said he does not expect the starting running back job to be handed to him and is ready to compete with the other running backs on the roster for the job. RBs Andre Brown, Ryan Torain and Da'Rel Scott are also expected to compete to playing time.
Fantasy Tip: Wilson is the clear favorite to win the starting job and would be a starter each week if he does win the job. Brown is considered the favorite for the No. 2 RB job and could be a complementary back to Wilson. The roles for Torain and Scott are not known at this point, so their value is not easy to determine.
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 11:18:20 -0700
New York Giants owner John Mara said RB Andre Brown will receive a second-round tender Monday, Mar. 11.
Mon, 11 Mar 2013 09:13:07 -0700

Fri, 15 Feb 2013 13:32:56 -0800
New York Giants restricted free-agent RB Andre Brown said he is preparing to compete for the starting running back job next season. "Oh yes, I'm going to prepare to be a starter," Brown said. "That's the dream job right there, to go out there and start and play for the New York Giants. I would love to do that. I'm going to put as much work as I need to put in to prepare for that role, if it happens to be me, put that faith in them that they can rely on me." He said the broken fibula he suffered this season is completely healed.
Wed, 06 Feb 2013 18:30:56 -0800
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is expected serve as the primary backup to RB David Wilson now that RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle, knee) has been jettisoned.
Fantasy Tip: Brown is recovering from a broken leg suffered in November. If he bounces back to 100 percent before the season, he might be worth a look as a flex fantasy option most weeks. However, it would take a long-term injury to Wilson to create more of an opportunity.
Wed, 06 Feb 2013 10:39:37 -0800
The New York Giants are expected to re-sign restricted free-agent RB Andre Brown this offseason.
