Eagles | LeSean McCoy praises Nick Foles

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 12:21:26 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy praised QB Nick Foles, saying this is the year Foles has a great season. "Nick, he wants to play, he wants to get better," McCoy said. "He's playing lights-out even in camp, but he still wants to be at a higher level. He's at that peak where people know him like, 'Man, this Foles, is he that good?' Because you see the stats, you see the numbers. I think this is the year he blows 'em out like, 'Yeah, I'm Nick Foles. I'm Philadelphia's quarterback. I'm the guy.' And this is the year he blows it away."

Fantasy Tip: Foles surprised everyone and had a fantastic season in 2013, but losing his best wide receiver in DeSean Jackson may be a lot to overcome in 2014. Temper your expectations with Foles.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy thinks he's best back in the league

Mon, 19 May 2014 12:07:45 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy thinks he's the best running back in the NFL. "My brother always rips me all the time, trying to make me play harder. I say, 'I'm the best,' and he'll say, 'Did Adrian Peterson retire?' I look at the last three years and everything. I think AP has been the best back for so long, and he's been doing it for so long, that's why he automatically gets the best running back (title)," McCoy said.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy thinks Darren Sproles will help him

Fri, 25 Apr 2014 20:17:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he believes the addition of RB Darren Sproles will help him this upcoming season, because it will allow him to stay fresh longer in games. "Being in the prime of my career and bringing in a guy like Sproles who can do so much, we'll work well together. I think having me fresh in the fourth quarter with fewer carries can be even more dangerous," McCoy said.

Eagles | Darren Sproles acquired

Thu, 13 Mar 2014 05:59:11 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired RB Darren Sproles from the New Orleans Saints for an undisclosed package.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles fits the offense well and will continue to be a good running back to own in point-per reception leagues. However, he'll be 31 next season, and he could have landed in a better spot for fantasy purposes. Sproles' presence may also limit LeSean McCoy's touches, but it should add more longevity to his career after his phenomenal, but taxing, 2013 season. Sproles should often be a good RB3 in PPR leagues, but is a RB4 or handcuff material in others. McCoy remains a stud RB1 in all formats.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy held in check

Sun, 20 Oct 2013 16:48:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy entered the Week 7 game against the Dallas Cowboys as the league's leading rusher, but he was held to just 55 rushing yards on 17 carries. He also added six receptions for 26 yards. McCoy had two 100-yard games with two rushing touchdowns through the first three games, but he has hit the century mark just once in the past four games, and he has just one score during the span. He remains an obvious must-start in all fantasy leagues going forward, but as the Philadelphia offense has struggled, mostly due to injury at the quarterback spot, McCoy's production has suffered.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy wants to spread the ball around

Fri, 13 Sep 2013 06:48:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy wants the team to spread the ball around better on offense. "I didn't mind it Monday night," McCoy said. "I think we can do a better job rotating because it's a long season. I don't think I need to have the ball 31, 32 times in a game for us to be a successful offense. We have too many different weapons. I think the running backs we have here can definitely play. Bryce Brown showed you last year he's definitely a talented back. So I think we have to do a better job of monitoring the reps."

Eagles | Offense efficient

Tue, 10 Sep 2013 09:45:53 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense was efficient and quick in their Week 1 victory over the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 9; they ran a play every 22.4 seconds and 53 in the entire game. RB LeSean McCoy had big holes to run through, and WRs DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant and TE Brent Celek were wide open most of the time down the field. QB Michael Vick was very successful running the read-option. However, the Eagles players looked fatigued late in the game, often coming off the field for breathers. Jackson didn't catch any passes in the second half. "The tempo really worked," McCoy said. "I don't think anyone has seen it that fast. We've got to learn. We're learning as the thing goes. Coach Chip Kelly is a great coach. Today is the first time a lot of the guys in the locker room had fun. We couldn't wait to get back out there and have fun."

Fantasy Tip: Philly's offense was downright impressive in the first half. The up-tempo attack should continue to create mismatches in opposing defenses, but as we saw in the second half, is this something that Philadelphia will be able to sustain over a full season? Probably not, but for the time being, it makes all of the Iggles' offensive weapons much more attractive.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy fires out of the chute

Mon, 09 Sep 2013 21:30:32 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy carried 31 times for 184 yards and a touchdown in the Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 9. He also added one reception for five yards. His 31 carries marked a career high, and he was just one rushing yard short of tying his career best in yardage.

Fantasy Tip: If you're a fantasy owner in formats which reward points per reception (PPR), maybe you can complain a little bit since he had just one grab, but he still had a giant night.

Eagles | Chris Polk looking to rise up depth chart

Wed, 07 Aug 2013 18:04:04 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Chris Polk continues to challenge RB Bryce Brown for the primary backup spot behind RB LeSean McCoy. The knock on Brown is that he continues to have a tendency to bounce it outside, while Polk runs more between the tackles. However, at joint practice Wednesday, Aug. 7, with the New England Patriots, Polk put the ball on the ground. Brown has yet to fumble so far during training camp.

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said it does not matter whether QB Michael Vick or QB Nick Foles win the starting quarterback job as long as he keeps getting his carries. "That's why they pay [head coach Chip Kelly] the big bucks to pick the quarterback. [Vick and Foles] both look good and whoever he picks, I am fine with. As long as I get my carries, I don't care who it is," McCoy said.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy expects to have productive season

Thu, 09 May 2013 11:46:12 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he expects to have a very productive season in head coach Chip Kelly's offense in 2013. "We have tons of different sets with different backs. You run so much," McCoy said. "There are so many different fast-paced movements from motioning out, from running routes and things like that. It's so open. You're trying to get guys in the open field. This is a good offense." McCoy said he expects RBs Bryce Brown and Chris Polk to receive playing time because of the type of offense the team will use.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy had a disappointing 2012 season with only five total touchdowns but did miss four games because of a concussion. McCoy has proven to be one of the top fantasy running backs in the NFL and likely will be a No. 1 running back this season.

Cowboys | Bypassed LeSean McCoy in draft

Mon, 18 Feb 2013 05:04:03 -0800

A former Dallas Cowboys scout said the team had the opportunity to select Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft but opted to trade the 51st overall selection for additional picks. "If you go back to the 2009 draft, they sat there and they had LeSean McCoy with a first-round grade," Bryan Broaddus said. "The problem was, they weren't willing to take LeSean McCoy. That's the issue. Don't window-dress your board. They're sitting there in the second round and they've got LeSean McCoy with a first-round grade on their board. That's value. They did it (got it right) with Sean Lee, they did it with Bruce Carter. They sat there, they took the guy that was on the board that they were supposed to take. Mistakes are made when you jump around on the board."
