Saints | Hakeem Nicks working out for Saints

Wed, 18 May 2016 10:26:21 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Giants) is among the group of receivers working out for the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: If Nicks shows the Saints something, it's an offense that he could have a bit of a fantasy revival in. If he signs, he'll have to show a spark in camp to be worth a WR5 flyer.

Bengals | Hakeem Nicks visits with Cincy

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 14:05:00 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Giants) worked out with the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday, April 5, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks had just seven catches for 54 yards for the G-Men in six games in 2015, and he's unlikely to carry any significant fantasy value this season. The Bengals are still looking for receivers, but Nicks would be a third or fourth receiver for them, at best.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks ready to step up

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 21:55:18 -0800

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said he is ready to fill the void created by the one-game suspension to WR Odell Beckham Jr. in Week 16. "I look it as a great opportunity, and when opportunity knocks on the door, you've got to answer it."

Fantasy Tip: The Vikings have a solid secondary, but for the minimum price at FantasyScore, Nicks ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be worth a flier in an expanded role.

Giants | Rueben Randle, Dwayne Harris quieted

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 19:52:19 -0800

New York Giants WR Rueben Randle managed just two receptions for 22 yards in the Week 13 game against the New York Jets. He was targeted six times. WR Dwayne Harris had just one grab for eight yards on two targets, while WR Hakeem Nicks converted his only target for seven yards.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has been useful from a fantasy perspective, and Harris has had his moments in deeper leagues. The duo could rebound rather nicely and be strong FantasyScore contrarian plays in Miami in Week 14.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks plays 11 snaps

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 05:27:55 -0800

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks played 11 snaps in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: He had one catch for four yards in his first game of the season. He'll probably be more involved in the future, but he's not much of an option in fantasy yet.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks active against WAS

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 08:31:04 -0800

Confirming a previous report, New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks is officially active for Week 12's game against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the low price tag, Nicks ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore this week because it remains uncertain what his role in the offense will be or how much of the playbook he has mastered. The Giants are using a different offense now than when Nicks had his first tour of duty with the team.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks likely to play

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 08:01:14 -0800

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks is expected to be active for Week 12's game against the Washington Redskins, although an official decision has not yet been made, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore, since it remains to be seen how often the team will use him. The Giants are using a different offense than they employed the last time Nicks played for them, so it will take time for him to get back on the same page with QB Eli Manning.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks getting up to speed

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:19:25 -0800

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks is learning the team's offense in practice but said the task hasn't been that tough. He said he has worked with both the scout team and the offense during practice. QB Eli Manning and WR Odell Beckham Jr. both said that Nicks has looked good in practice.

Fantasy Tip: This is an entirely different offense than the last time Nicks was with New York, so he won't learn it overnight, and it will take time for him to gain chemistry with Manning. There's no guarantee Nicks will even surpass Dwayne Harris on the depth chart for meaning snaps, either. Nicks should be left to the waiver wire unless he proves he's in line to see notable snaps.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks has chemistry with Manning

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 10:13:52 -0800

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks has caught more passes (306) for more yards (4,538) from QB Eli Manning than any other receiver. WR Victor Cruz is in second place with 264 catches for 3,963 yards.

Fantasy Tip: That's great and all, but fantasy owners in deeper leagues want to know if Nicks will actually be worth a pickup off the waiver wire. Nicks could be inactive coming out of the bye, as he still needs to learn the offense and get back on the same with Manning. Even when he is up to speed he may not be anything more than the fourth wideout.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks returning to Giants

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 06:29:53 -0800

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Titans) will re-sign with the New York Giants, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks' fantasy value has been on life support for the past couple of seasons, but this will give him a chance to rekindle some of it down the stretch. Keep him on your watch list.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks, Wes Welker visiting Giants

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 06:56:32 -0700

Free-agent WRs Hakeem Nicks (Titans) and Wes Welker (Broncos) will work out with the New York Giants Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: With Victor Cruz ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) nearing a return from his calf and knee injuries, Nicks or Welker would be extremely far down the targets pecking order, if they're even signed. Currently, Nicks and Welker aren't worth fantasy attention outside of cavernous leagues where they're nothing more than desperation fliers. The Giants do have an opening after releasing Preston Parker last week, though. Check back for an official announcement.

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 11:49:24 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Titans) is working out for the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints could use some more depth at wide receiver, but it's unlikely that Nicks would work his way into a top-three wide receiver position. Leave him on waivers for now.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks released

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 11:57:36 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks was released Saturday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: This is somewhat of a surprise considering the Titans aren't necessarily deep at wide receiver. Kendall Wright, Harry Douglas, Dorial Green-Beckham and Justin Hunter are now their top receivers. Wright is at least a WR4 in PPR leagues. Douglas and Green-Beckham could do better than people think. Hunter is mainly just a deep threat and has unreliable hands.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks playing faster?

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 13:35:00 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks has supposedly looked faster than he has in a few years.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks is expected to back up WRs Kendall Wright and Harry Douglas. The Titans also have rookie WR Dorial Green-Beckham, WR Justin Hunter and TE Delanie Walker at their disposal, so Nicks may not see a ton of targets. Draft him as a WR5 this year.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks turns heads in Nashville

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 18:32:12 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks has developed a rapport with QB Marcus Mariota early on in training camp, and could end up ahead of WRs Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter and Dorial Green-Beckham on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: The Nicks addition went unnoticed by many after his disappointment in Indianapolis, but he blamed the scheme for his lack of production. It sounds like things are on the up and up for Nicks in Nashville, but there is still a long way to go before he can be considered as anything more than a late-round flier in deeper fantasy formats.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks blames scheme for struggles

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 05:35:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks blamed Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton's scheme for his down season in 2014. Nicks had 38 catches for 405 yards and four touchdowns. Nicks feels comfortable in his new system in Tennessee. "It's more one-on-one, trips backside, vertical throw, shallow-cross game, that's more of my style if you look at my past history, where I excelled," Nicks said.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks is a player to consider at the tail end of drafts as a WR5.

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 16:00:36 -0700

Updating a previous story, Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks (leg) plans to practice Sunday, Aug. 2, after leaving the field Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks blamed Saturday's injury on cramping which is good news for the veteran receiver's fantasy value, as he had been working with the first-team offense.

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 15:05:26 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks left the field Saturday, Aug. 1, and was seen holding his hand to his right leg on his way to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks had been seeing time with the starters since training camp opened up which had been promising for his fantasy value. Prospective owners will need to see him at 100% health before taking the risk come draft day.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks sees time with starters

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:47:04 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Hakeem Nicks received a bulk of the work opposite WR Kendall Wright with the first-team offense during practice Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks is one of several candidates that are competing for the No. 2 wide receiver job for the Titans. Nicks posted only 405 receiving yards last season and probably will not have a big impact this season. Owners could consider Nicks as a late-round option if he wins the job but will not be a weekly starting player.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks joining Titans

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 10:32:17 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Colts) agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with the Tennessee Titans Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks, despite playing in 16 games in 2014, had just 38 catches for 405 yards and four touchdowns as he was buried on the Colts' depth chart. But he also didn't display breakaway speed and failed to separate from defenders. In Tennessee, he figures to compete for the No. 3 receiver job with Harry Douglas. The QB situation in Tennessee also isn't favorable for a receiver nearing the end of the line. Nicks shouldn't be drafted in standard fantasy leagues.

Titans | Hakeem Nicks visiting Titans

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 13:57:12 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Colts) is visiting the Tennessee Titans Monday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks has only scored seven touchdowns in the last three years, and hasn't seen 1,000 yards since 2011. He shouldn't be considered more than a low-end WR3 or flex option no matter where he signs until he can get his career back on track.

NFL | Hakeem Nicks says he's not done

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 11:07:59 -0700

Free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Colts) had just 38 catches and four touchdowns in a complementary role with the Indianapolis Colts, but he insists that his career is not over. He also says that he is as healthy as he's been in a long time. "I'm nowhere near finished, man, and I want to prove that to the world and everybody," Nicks said. "That's definitely my mentality, but I don't even want to talk about it. I feel like I got into that situation last year talking about it. I'm about to just go out there and prove it." Nicks admits he let his injuries and contract situation with the New York Giants get to him. It does not look like he'll be returning to the Colts in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks hasn't topped 1,000 yards receiving in the last three years, mainly due to injuries. However, it seems unlikely that he'll be a major factor in any team's passing game for the rest of his career. His fantasy value will depend on where he lands, but Nicks is likely to be mainly receiver depth in deeper leagues.

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 20:49:05 -0700

Colts | Hakeem Nicks to play a key role

Fri, 16 Jan 2015 12:52:06 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks figures to play a key role in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots Sunday, Jan. 18, especially if the Patriots use CB Darrelle Revis to try to shut down WR T.Y. Hilton. Nicks has been showing more explosiveness in the offense in limited snaps of late. WR Reggie Wayne has just three of QB Andrew Luck's 77 postseason targets.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) clearly won't stand out as a fantastic FantasyScore choice this weekend, but he could be an interesting sleeper choice if Hilton is taken out of the game plan by Revis and the Colts are forced to air it out to keep up.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks will start

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 12:14:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks will start at wide receiver in place of WR Reggie Wayne (elbow).

Fantasy Tip: Nicks has not been much of a factor in the passing game this season but has a chance to make an impact in Week 8. Hicks costs $3,900 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap flex option for owners.

Colts | Reggie Wayne could miss a game or two

Tue, 21 Oct 2014 09:45:19 -0700

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne's (elbow) injury isn't believed to be serious, but it could cause him to miss a game or two, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Head coach Chuck Pagano hasn't revealed the results of Wayne's MRI exams, however. Wayne said his injury wasn't serious after the Week 7 win. He finished the game against the Cincinnati Bengals with just four catches for 15 yards, and he had two drops. WR Hakeem Nicks could receive a heavier workload if Wayne needs some time to heal from his injury. Nicks had zero catches on one target against the Bengals after catching just two passes for 18 yards the previous week.

Fantasy Tip: Monitor Wayne's practice status this week but be prepared to ignore him at FantasyScore in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Nicks could be a sneaky sleeper selection if Wayne is forced to sit out.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks struggling to gain separation

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:14:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks continued to struggle to gain separation from defenders in Week 6 against the Houston Texans Thursday, Oct. 9. WR Donte Moncrief may start to phase Nicks out of the wide receiver rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks had just two catches (seven targets) for 18 yards last night against the Texans. He hasn't scored since Week 3 and doesn't have more than five catches in a single game this season. Nicks is a bench player for the time being, and you might want to consider dumping him for better options.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks fighting for touches

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 19:27:57 -0700

Indianapolis WR Hakeem Nicks currently ranks fourth on the team with 18 targets this season, but he said he still views himself as the best receiver in the NFL and believes he will have a chance to prove that in Indianapolis.

Fantasy Tip: Despite plenty of self-confidence, Nicks is clearly third in the receiver pecking order. He is priced reasonably ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) at FantasyScore in Week 5, but Nicks is a high-risk, touchdown-dependent pick. For a little extra money, T.Y. Hilton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) and Reggie Wayne ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) offer more dependability.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks' status in question

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 13:51:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks (illness) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks has missed the last two days of practice, and his status for the game is uncertain at this point. Owners would have to spend $5,200 at FantasyScore on Nicks this week, but may need to consider a healthier option at the position.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks out with illness

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 15:28:59 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks ($5,200) was only targeted three times in Week 2, so even with a plus-matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, you should be able to do better in FantasyScore contests.

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton not only believes he's a No. 1 wide receiver, but adds teammates Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks into that category as well.

Fantasy Tip: Whatever Hilton thinks, none of the Colts' receivers are in WR1 territory in fantasy. Hilton provides the most value while Nicks and Wayne fall more into WR3 territory, with Wayne having added value in PPR scoring leagues.

"I mean, anytime people say things like that and try to discuss your character, I think it takes a toll on anyone," Cruz said. "I think it did for him, and I think it's something where he wants to prove people wrong. He wants to show that he's a team guy, show that he gives his all and everything for his teammates. Fantasy Tip: He's sort of a handcuff/heir apparent to injury-prone vet Hakeem Nicks. At 6-foot-2, 221 pounds, Moncrief could step in with big-play ability. He's someone to watch inseason during 2014 and for the long term, with Reggie Wayne (knee) not having much time left on the field.
