NFL | Little interest in Hakeem Nicks

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 20:49:05 -0700

There is little to no market for free-agent WR Hakeem Nicks (Colts), a league source said Tuesday, March 17. The lack of interest flows in part from a trend toward young receivers making an immediate impact.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks to play a key role

Fri, 16 Jan 2015 12:52:06 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks figures to play a key role in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots Sunday, Jan. 18, especially if the Patriots use CB Darrelle Revis to try to shut down WR T.Y. Hilton. Nicks has been showing more explosiveness in the offense in limited snaps of late. WR Reggie Wayne has just three of QB Andrew Luck's 77 postseason targets.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) clearly won't stand out as a fantastic FantasyScore choice this weekend, but he could be an interesting sleeper choice if Hilton is taken out of the game plan by Revis and the Colts are forced to air it out to keep up.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks will start

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 12:14:55 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks will start at wide receiver in place of WR Reggie Wayne (elbow).

Fantasy Tip: Nicks has not been much of a factor in the passing game this season but has a chance to make an impact in Week 8. Hicks costs $3,900 on FantasyScore and could be a cheap flex option for owners.

Colts | Reggie Wayne could miss a game or two

Tue, 21 Oct 2014 09:45:19 -0700

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne's (elbow) injury isn't believed to be serious, but it could cause him to miss a game or two, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Head coach Chuck Pagano hasn't revealed the results of Wayne's MRI exams, however. Wayne said his injury wasn't serious after the Week 7 win. He finished the game against the Cincinnati Bengals with just four catches for 15 yards, and he had two drops. WR Hakeem Nicks could receive a heavier workload if Wayne needs some time to heal from his injury. Nicks had zero catches on one target against the Bengals after catching just two passes for 18 yards the previous week.

Fantasy Tip: Monitor Wayne's practice status this week but be prepared to ignore him at FantasyScore in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Nicks could be a sneaky sleeper selection if Wayne is forced to sit out.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks struggling to gain separation

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:14:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks continued to struggle to gain separation from defenders in Week 6 against the Houston Texans Thursday, Oct. 9. WR Donte Moncrief may start to phase Nicks out of the wide receiver rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks had just two catches (seven targets) for 18 yards last night against the Texans. He hasn't scored since Week 3 and doesn't have more than five catches in a single game this season. Nicks is a bench player for the time being, and you might want to consider dumping him for better options.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks fighting for touches

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 19:27:57 -0700

Indianapolis WR Hakeem Nicks currently ranks fourth on the team with 18 targets this season, but he said he still views himself as the best receiver in the NFL and believes he will have a chance to prove that in Indianapolis.

Fantasy Tip: Despite plenty of self-confidence, Nicks is clearly third in the receiver pecking order. He is priced reasonably ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) at FantasyScore in Week 5, but Nicks is a high-risk, touchdown-dependent pick. For a little extra money, T.Y. Hilton ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) and Reggie Wayne ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) offer more dependability.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks' status in question

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 13:51:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks (illness) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 19, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks has missed the last two days of practice, and his status for the game is uncertain at this point. Owners would have to spend $5,200 at FantasyScore on Nicks this week, but may need to consider a healthier option at the position.

Colts | Hakeem Nicks out with illness

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 15:28:59 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR Hakeem Nicks (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Nicks ($5,200) was only targeted three times in Week 2, so even with a plus-matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, you should be able to do better in FantasyScore contests.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton talks receivers

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 15:46:52 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton not only believes he's a No. 1 wide receiver, but adds teammates Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks into that category as well.

Fantasy Tip: Whatever Hilton thinks, none of the Colts' receivers are in WR1 territory in fantasy. Hilton provides the most value while Nicks and Wayne fall more into WR3 territory, with Wayne having added value in PPR scoring leagues.
