Wed, 22 May 2013 11:35:36 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) was not present for organized team activities Wednesday, May 22. Head coach Tom Coughlin said he expected Nicks to attend the workout. Coughlin said Nicks likely would have been limited to protect his knee. Fantasy Tip: Nicks not attending organized team activities is not a big deal at this point since they are not mandatory. It will become a bigger story if Nicks does not show up for the start of training camp. He should be considered an every-week starter in fantasy leagues.
Wed, 22 May 2013 10:22:42 -0700 New York Giants WR Jerrel Jernigan has shown progress as Victor Cruz remains absent from OTAs. WR Hakeem Nicks said his teammate has been adjusting well to the slot role, which fits him. "I feel like he got a lot of reps," Nicks added. "He's a little older now, he's a little mature. He got more patient in his routes. ... He's catching the ball a lot better, and he's ready to step up." Fantasy Tip: Complementary pieces to this aerial game have filled solid fantasy depth roles for the last few years. With Domenik Hixon gone, Jernigan has a chance to make more noise, but the presence of Louis Murphy and Rueben Randle probably limits his upside.
Wed, 22 May 2013 10:21:41 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said he hasn't experienced problems with the knee that plagued his 2012 season, adding he's feeling "as good as [he's] felt in awhile." Fantasy Tip: The 25-year-old still offers the upside of a fantasy WR1, but you must pay as if you're knocking off at least two games from his projection to maximize your investment. Victor Cruz's presence should continue to open up this effective passing offense.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 13:35:22 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) said he has not performed any complicated routes that involve cutting during his rehab at this point because he does not want to rush his recovery. He said he expects to run more complicated drill in a few weeks.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 08:11:03 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said the 2013 season will be "big" for him entering the final year of his current deal; however, Nicks added he will leave all contract issues to his agent.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 08:04:34 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) said he is feeling good and his goal remains to be ready for the start of training camp.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 17:39:30 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) said he never really felt like himself last season, as his left knee never recovered after a Week 2 injury. He has reported no problems with his knee during voluntary offseason workouts. "It's always good to see him back healthy," QB Eli Manning said. "He is still striving to get to 100 percent. Obviously, having a healthy Hakeem would definitely make our team much better."
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 17:38:56 -0700 New York Giants QB Eli Manning and WR Hakeem Nicks are among the notable position players in attendance at the team's voluntary offseason workouts this week. The two also worked out together at Duke University in North Carolina earlier in the month.
Mon, 15 Apr 2013 15:20:37 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) said he has been running at full speed for a few weeks and is happy that he recently worked out with QB Eli Manning. "I kept it simple because it was my first time running routes," Nicks said. "I wasn't about to go out there and – it's still early right now. So my biggest thing is that I want my presence to be felt there with Eli. Because it is something that I do week-to-week. We're on the same page." Fantasy Tip: Nicks dealt with injuries during the 2012 season and underwent knee surgery this offseason in hopes of fixing his knee. Nicks should be a solid No. 2 wide receiver on teams next season if he is healthy. Hicks could have a chance to be a low-end No. 1 receiver if Victor Cruz is not on the team.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 18:13:42 -0700 New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) has been working out at Duke University in North Carolina with QB Eli Manning and fellow receivers WR Victor Cruz and Louis Murphy. Nicks is coming off offseason knee surgery, and his participation is a good sign that he'll be ready for organized team activities (OTAs) which start next week. Fantasy Tip: If Nicks is able to prove his health during offseason workouts, that will likely have him moving back up the fantasy receiver rankings. He should be a solid No. 2 or 3 fantasy WR as long as he is 100 percent healthy going into the new season.
