Bills | Percy Harvin to work at CB

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 19:01:07 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin has asked head coach Rex Ryan to play cornerback, and Ryan said he is open to the idea and will let Harvin line up at cornerback from "time to time" as an experiment.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is currently slated to be the No. 3 receiver in a run-heavy offense, making him an unattractive fantasy option despite his high-end speed. At best, he is someone to gamble on in the final rounds of drafts.

Bills | Percy Harvin struggling with routes

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:17:31 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin required detailed instruction on how to run routes during OTAs, and Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News believes Harvin will open the year as the No. 3 receiver behind WR Sammy Watkins and WR Robert Woods.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin still has big-play speed, but his lack of consistency isn't going to improve as the No. 3 receiver in a run-heavy offense that lacks a reliable quarterback. At best, he is a late-round flier deeper leagues.

Bills | Percy Harvin looking to improve

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 15:49:47 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin said he has been working with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal this offseason in hopes of becoming a more complete wide receiver. "I feel that it's time for me to put it all together," Harvin said. "I feel like I have the coaching staff and support here in Buffalo to get that done. The owners here are unbelievable. Everything here spells success for me. The world has yet to see me explode like I'm about to."

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has not seen regular playing time as a wide receiver over the past few years and has been used more in gadget plays. Harvin could have a solid role in the offense this season and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Percy Harvin still absent

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 07:59:45 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin is still absent from organized team activities Wednesday, June 10.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has been a colossal bust the last two years, but he still has explosive speed that could pepper the end zone often. He's worth a late-round flyer as a WR4 or WR5.

Bills | Percy Harvin misses OTAs

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 09:29:55 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin did not participate in organized team activities Wednesday, June 3. Head coach Rex Ryan said Harvin's absence was not injured-related.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Harvin may be dealing with a personal issue, so he should return to practice in the near future. Harvin should see playing time on offense, but his role is uncertain at this time. Harvin could be a late-round option in deeper leagues this upcoming season.

Bills | Sanjay Lal talks Buffalo WRs

Tue, 19 May 2015 06:10:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal discussed the team's wide receivers in great detail Monday, May 18, saying he likes the flexibility among the corps and their ability to execute on the field. Lal believes Bills WR Sammy Watkins can become a complete receiver, and he praised WR Robert Woods' ability as a route runner. Lal doesn't want to pigeonhole WR Percy Harvin as being a gadget-play receiver.

Fantasy Tip: While Lal is right about his primary receiving weapons, someone still has to get the ball into their hands from a cast of likely mediocre quarterback options. Furthermore, Buffalo has invested a tremendous amount of money into their running game and have a head coach in Rex Ryan whose mantra on offense has been "ground and pound." Temper your fantasy expectations in all formats for this tethered passing game full of explosive players.

Bills | Percy Harvin excited for new season

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 13:20:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin said his best football hasn't been played yet. "The world has yet to see me really explode like I'm about to [in Buffalo]," Harvin said. Harvin added that he was excited to come to the Bills because of head coach Rex Ryan and Harvin's counterparts. "…coming here was so important to me. When I look at the running game and I looked at Sammy Watkins on the other side, me on the other side with Robert Woods, it spelled nothing but success for me."

Fantasy Tip: Harvin will need to stay healthy in order to prove he hasn't played his best yet. He hasn't played a full season since 2011. Harvin is the most versatile receiver on the Bills, but Watkins might have the most fantasy value. Harvin should be considered no more than a WR2.

He'll receive a signing bonus of $3 million with a base salary of $2.9 million and a $100,000 workout bonus for this season. The Bills will receive some salary cap relief in 2015 with the deal, and the signing bonus will be prorated over the duration of the contract.

Bills | Buffalo officially signs Percy Harvin

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 11:05:15 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) officially signed with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday, March 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but earlier reports stated it is a one-year deal.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin may not be a starter for the Bills but should have a role in the offense. Harvin's fantasy value likely will be hurt by his injury history as well as the team's uncertain quarterback situation. Harvin could be a No. 4 fantasy wide receiver for owners next season.

Bills | Percy Harvin wants more normal role

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 13:48:37 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin is making it a priority to shed the reputation of being a "gadget" player and focus more on being a traditional wide receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin could be the most skilled player on the Bills roster right now, although WR Sammy Watkins might contest. Harvin has been used in many ways throughout his career. A focus on playing a traditional wide receiver role could aid Harvin's fantasy value, though it should still be expected of him to run the ball a few times here and there. He's still a fringe WR2 with either Matt Cassel or EJ Manuel throwing him the ball.

49ers | Niners making play for Percy Harvin

Sat, 14 Mar 2015 16:33:36 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin's (Jets) deal with the Buffalo Bills isn't done, and the San Francisco 49ers could be making a play for him, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin's fantasy value would have a bigger upside window in San Fran. He's a very risky WR3, but implementing him into the 49ers' offense would make the risk a little easier pill to swallow.

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 12:35:32 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) has agreed to terms with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year deal, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin likely will be used as a wide receiver and returner with the Bills. Harvin's status will be affected by his injury history as well as the quarterback situation the Bills have at the moment. Harvin could be an option in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts but will be a risky option.

Fri, 13 Mar 2015 12:16:03 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) is working on a deal with the Buffalo Bills, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin likely will be used as a returner if he signs with the Bills but could also have a role in the passing game. Harvin will be a risky option in fantasy drafts next season because of his injury history and the team's quarterback situation but could be an option in the middle rounds of drafts.

Bill | Percy Harvin finishes visit to Buffalo

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 16:38:43 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) completed his visit with the Buffalo Bills Thursday, March 12. Harvin is still considering other options and could make a decision this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin's value would be somewhat limited in Buffalo considering Matt Cassel could be the best quarterback on the roster. Still, there's no denying his athleticism and versatility, which gives him WR2 potential as long as he can stay healthy.

NFL | Percy Harvin doesn't want to be gadget

Thu, 12 Mar 2015 05:55:57 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) wants to be more of a traditional receiver and not just a gadget, according to a source close to him. ""A lot of people have lied to him and told Percy that when he plays on their team he will be a traditional wide receiver," the source said. "My understanding is that Percy wants to play the position full-time or get closer to that. He doesn't want to be the gadget guy all the time. He's grown tired of that. He wants to have a defined wide receiver role. I'm not saying he doesn't want to ever catch the ball out of the backfield again or run a bubble screen. He'll do whatever it takes to help the team win. I just think he wants to be respected as a traditional wide receiver threat."

Fantasy Tip: Traditional wisdom says that if Harvin were able to withstand the rigors of playing the position, he would be doing so. Harvin has a lot of talent, but is very brittle and comes with extensive clubhouse concerns. There's still no denying his potential to reach the end zone. Harvin is a WR4 with considerable upside or a weak WR3.

Bills | Buffalo wants Percy Harvin

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 09:30:42 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) ideally would like to be in a high-octane offense on a one-year, prove-it deal, but the Buffalo Bills are throwing money around and are trying to sign Harvin to a one-year deal.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear exactly how Harvin would fit in the Bills' retooled offense. On paper, it would see that Harvin's skillset would clash with that of newly-acquired LeSean McCoy out of the backfield. Quarterback questions would also likely be a hindrance to Harvin's full fantasy potential. Regardless, he remains a dangerous weapon with fantasy football upside. Stay tuned.

Bills | Percy Harvin to visit Buffalo

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 16:42:33 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin's (Jets) first visit will be with the Buffalo Bills, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is just another receiver whose fantasy value would be hindered by quarterback play if he signs with the Bills. Of course, nothing is official yet and this is likely the first of several visits Harvin will make in the near future.

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:55:43 -0700

The Seattle Seahawks received a sixth-round pick from the New York Jets Tuesday, March 10, after they released WR Percy Harvin. The Jets would've had to surrender a fourth-round pick if they had kept Harvin on the roster until March 19. The Jets saved $10.5 million on the salary cap by releasing Harvin.

Patriots | Pats likely landing spot for Percy Harvin?

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:42:39 -0700

Free-agent WR Percy Harvin (Jets) could have a likely landing spot in the New England Patriots, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin was officially released by the Jets Tuesday, so he's now free to sign with any team. It's no secret that Bill Belichick is fond of Harvin's skills. If the Pats were to sign Harvin, it'd make him a very intriguing fantasy football commodity, especially in point-per-reception formats. Stay tuned.

Jets | Percy Harvin officially released

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:33:59 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin was officially released Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin's fantasy value heading into the 2015 season will be murky until we know where he's headed. Leaving the Jets may have been the best thing for him after the team traded for Brandon Marshall last week. Harvin can be a dangerous fantasy wideout in the right situation, and he's likely to have more value in PPR leagues.

Jets | Percy Harvin to be cut

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 06:32:36 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin will be released Tuesday, March 10, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin will likely be with his third team in less than a calendar year. He's special on the field, when he is on the field. He's likely to slip in drafts where you can take a WR3 or WR4 flyer on him if you're feeling lucky.

Eagles | Philly a landing spot for Percy Harvin?

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 15:40:42 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin, who is expected to be released, could be a perfect fit for the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly's high-octane offense. Harvin's skill set matches Kelly's system, too, which emphasizes run-after-the-catch ability. However, Harvin's tarnished reputation may not sit well with Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: A move to Philly would seemingly give Harvin a boatload of fantasy value for the 2015 season. That'll only happen if the Eagles fail to re-sign Jeremy Maclin, though, so stay tuned. Harvin has more value in point-per-reception formats than in standard-scoring leagues.

Raiders | Oakland makes sense for Percy Harvin

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 15:38:38 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin may make perfect sense for the Oakland Raiders, with Harvin expected to be released by the Jets. Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave maximized Harvin's talent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is hard to put a finger on. He'll surely have some sort of fantasy value in 2015, depending on where he lands. In Oakland, it'd be a bit of a mystery how they'd use him, but surely Musgrave has interesting ideas alongside youngster's Derek Carr and Latavius Murray. No matter where Harvin lands, he'll likely have more value in PPR leagues.

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 12:22:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin is expected to be released by the team, according to league sources. Harvin is expected to have an active market in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has a good deal of talent, and can still be valuable in the right situation, but it is yet to be determined how much value he will have in 2015 in this point. Check back once he has a new home to get a better feel for his value.

Patriots | NE interested in Percy Harvin if cut

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 12:07:54 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin will draw interest from the New England Patriots if he is released by the Jets this offseason. Harvin is unlikely to return to the Jets unless he takes less than the $10.5 million he's owed next season. New England will be one of several teams interested in Harvin if he is let go. The Patriots tried trading for Harvin before he was traded to the Jets last year.

Fantasy Tip: There's still a lot that needs to happen before we can determine his fantasy value for the 2015 season. A new location will probably be good for Harvin, however, especially if it's with Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Jets | Percy Harvin expected to be cut

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 07:26:26 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin is expected to be cut by March 19, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Harvin has a $10.5 million cap number for 2015, and the team would owe the Seattle Seahawks a fourth-round pick if he's on the roster after that date.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has a ton of talent and can still be a worthwhile WR3 flyer. However, it's best to try to snag him as a fourth receiver or avoid altogether unless he lands in an extremely favorable situation.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin's trade from the Seattle Seahawks hasn't brought any regrets to the team, according to general manager John Schneider. "We kind of just got back to playing more basic: run the ball and hammer it out; [use the] read-option. Getting back to [playing] a little bit more up field instead of horizontal," Schneider said.

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 14:04:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle, ribs) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players should be able to find better options than Harvin in Week 17. He will likely play at less than 100%, if at all, and the quarterback play for the Jets won't do him any favors.

Jets | Percy Harvin not yet ruled out

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 14:44:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 24. The team is off Thursday, Dec. 25, before resuming practice Friday, Dec. 26, for the final time this season. Head coach Rex Ryan did not rule Harvin out for the regular season finale against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Harvin can play, it's debatable how effective he will be. The Miami Dolphins have a solid pass defense, and the Jets do not exactly have the best quarterback in the league. FantasyScore owners will want to take a pass on Harvin.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) has not been ruled out for Week 17, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan did say that if he was a betting man, he'd probably look for another option.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) is extremely sore, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Harvin left the team's Week 16 contest and did not return.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of the injury is not known, so owners will need to look for an update after the game or in the next few days. Jeremy Kerley could see more targets if Harvin is not able to play in Week 17 but probably is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 19, but is probable for Week 16 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin looks like he'll suit up, but there isn't a lot of upside for his $4,400 FantasyScore price against the Patriots. Harvin's outlook remains limited in this offense, and New England's secondary has been nasty in the second half of the season.

Jets | Percy Harvin expected to play

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 16:16:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, but barring a setback, he's expected to play in Week 16 against the New England Patriots. Harvin suffered a third-degree ankle sprain just two weeks ago, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Harvin was limited to a special teams role last week.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots secondary has been getting better in the second half of the season, and with the possibility that Harvin ($4,400) is limited again, he makes for a poor FantasyScore option. It doesn't help when Geno Smith is throwing you passes, either.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is not likely to take a pay cut to stay with the New York Jets after this season.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is the best offensive weapon that the Jets have right now, but that isn't saying much. The team's terrible quarterback play is going to make Harvin an inconsistent option every week, and he should definitely be avoided in Week 15 as he deals with an ankle injury.
