Patriots | NE interested in Percy Harvin if cut

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 12:07:54 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin will draw interest from the New England Patriots if he is released by the Jets this offseason. Harvin is unlikely to return to the Jets unless he takes less than the $10.5 million he's owed next season. New England will be one of several teams interested in Harvin if he is let go. The Patriots tried trading for Harvin before he was traded to the Jets last year.

Fantasy Tip: There's still a lot that needs to happen before we can determine his fantasy value for the 2015 season. A new location will probably be good for Harvin, however, especially if it's with Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Jets | Percy Harvin expected to be cut

Wed, 11 Feb 2015 07:26:26 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin is expected to be cut by March 19, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Harvin has a $10.5 million cap number for 2015, and the team would owe the Seattle Seahawks a fourth-round pick if he's on the roster after that date.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has a ton of talent and can still be a worthwhile WR3 flyer. However, it's best to try to snag him as a fourth receiver or avoid altogether unless he lands in an extremely favorable situation.

Wed, 28 Jan 2015 12:53:42 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin's trade from the Seattle Seahawks hasn't brought any regrets to the team, according to general manager John Schneider. "We kind of just got back to playing more basic: run the ball and hammer it out; [use the] read-option. Getting back to [playing] a little bit more up field instead of horizontal," Schneider said.

Jets | Percy Harvin doesn't practice

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 14:04:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle, ribs) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players should be able to find better options than Harvin in Week 17. He will likely play at less than 100%, if at all, and the quarterback play for the Jets won't do him any favors.

Jets | Percy Harvin not yet ruled out

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 14:44:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 24. The team is off Thursday, Dec. 25, before resuming practice Friday, Dec. 26, for the final time this season. Head coach Rex Ryan did not rule Harvin out for the regular season finale against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Harvin can play, it's debatable how effective he will be. The Miami Dolphins have a solid pass defense, and the Jets do not exactly have the best quarterback in the league. FantasyScore owners will want to take a pass on Harvin.

Jets | Percy Harvin does not practice

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 13:44:49 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle, ribs) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin still has a few days to return to practice, so owners should monitor his practice participation for the rest of the week. Harvin would have a favorable matchup against the Miami Dolphins, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find a better option.

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 15:16:01 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) has not been ruled out for Week 17, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan did say that if he was a betting man, he'd probably look for another option.

Jets | Percy Harvin has sore ribs

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 14:06:40 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) is extremely sore, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Harvin left the team's Week 16 contest and did not return.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear whether Harvin will be able to play in the final week of the season. If Harvin is able to go, he has a decent matchup against a mediocre Miami Dolphins pass defense.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ribs) was unable to return to the Week 16 game against the New England Patriots after leaving with an injury to his ribs.

Fantasy Tip: It's too early to determine Harvin's status for Week 17. If he cannot go, Jeremy Kerley, Eric Decker and Jeff Cumberland would all likely see an increase in targets.

Sun, 21 Dec 2014 11:57:12 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (rib) left the team's Week 16 game early because of a rib injury and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of the injury is not known, so owners will need to look for an update after the game or in the next few days. Jeremy Kerley could see more targets if Harvin is not able to play in Week 17 but probably is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Jets | Percy Harvin probable for Week 16

Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:25:21 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 19, but is probable for Week 16 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin looks like he'll suit up, but there isn't a lot of upside for his $4,400 FantasyScore price against the Patriots. Harvin's outlook remains limited in this offense, and New England's secondary has been nasty in the second half of the season.

Jets | Percy Harvin expected to play

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 16:16:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18, but barring a setback, he's expected to play in Week 16 against the New England Patriots. Harvin suffered a third-degree ankle sprain just two weeks ago, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Harvin was limited to a special teams role last week.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots secondary has been getting better in the second half of the season, and with the possibility that Harvin ($4,400) is limited again, he makes for a poor FantasyScore option. It doesn't help when Geno Smith is throwing you passes, either.

Jets | Percy Harvin officially limited in practice

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 13:55:11 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Harvin ($4,400, 8.8%) might be able to play after not practicing yesterday, but he's still a risky play on FantasyScore with a tough test against the New England Patriots.

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 09:47:36 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 18.

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 10:48:07 -0800

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 17. Head coach Rex Ryan said Harvin played with a third-degree ankle sprain in Week 15 and did not need a pain-killing shot for the ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin may not practice much this week but still has a good chance to play in Week 16. Harvin has a price of $4,400 on FantasyScore but is not a great option to use against the New England Patriots.

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 09:11:05 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is not participating in team drills during practice Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin did not practice much last week but was able to play in Week 15, so owners should check on his status later in the week. Harvin will be facing a tough New England Patriots defense this week and probably is not a great fantasy option on FantasyScore at $4,400.

Jets | Percy Harvin active

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 11:41:48 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is active for the team's Week 15 game.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is coming off a big game in Week 14 but could be limited by his injury this week. He is risky option because of the injury, but owners could consider using Harvin as a flex option on FantasyScore at $4,400.

Jets | Percy Harvin likely to go

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 08:10:44 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is likely to play Sunday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin ($4,400; 8.8% of your cap) isn't a poor buy on FantasyScore today, despite the futility of the offense. The team has made an effort to involve him in the offense, and he's a solid chip at a low price.

Jets | Percy Harvin not likely to take pay cut

Sat, 13 Dec 2014 20:45:58 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) is not likely to take a pay cut to stay with the New York Jets after this season.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is the best offensive weapon that the Jets have right now, but that isn't saying much. The team's terrible quarterback play is going to make Harvin an inconsistent option every week, and he should definitely be avoided in Week 15 as he deals with an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin likely will have to practice at some point this week if he wants a chance to play in Week 15. Harvin costs $4,400 on FantasyScore and is a risky option to use if he is active but would have a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Wed, 10 Dec 2014 10:57:43 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10. Head coach Rex Ryan said it would be a stretch to believe that Harvin will be able to play in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should continue to monitor the situation in case Harvin makes progress during the week, but should have a backup plan ready in case Harvin is out. Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley likely would receive more targets if Harvin misses the game and have a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Decker costs $5,600 on FantasyScore, while Kerley costs $3,100.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin (ankle) was wearing a walking boot Monday, Dec. 8, after injuring his ankle in Week 14. Head coach Rex Ryan did say that Harvin does not have a high ankle sprain, however.

Fantasy Tip: If Harvin misses any time, Jeremy Kerley would probably benefit the most, aside from Eric Decker, and could be a worthwhile option on FantasyScore at a cheap price.

Jets | Percy Harvin's season may be over

Mon, 08 Dec 2014 04:12:11 -0800

Harvin, who left the stadium on crutches, caught six passes for 124 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Just when Harvin had his best game of the season while contending with the Jets' shaky quarterback situation, fate deals a twist to his season. Jeremy Kerley and T.J. Graham could benefit from Harvin's absence if the worst fears are realized.

Jets | Percy Harvin posts big stat line

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 13:39:55 -0800

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin caught 11 passes for 129 yards in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, his second game since being acquired from the Seattle Seahawks via trade. He also ran once for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin is clearly the best receiver on the roster, and he will continue to get better as he becomes more familiar with the playbook. He would also benefit from some continuity at the quarterback position. He might come with a nice mid-level price in FantasyScore for Week 10, and could be a good play against a Pittsburgh Steelers pass defense which entered Week 9 ranked 19th in the NFL.

Jets | Percy Harvin a focal point of offense

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 17:02:56 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin played 44 of 84 snaps in his debut with the team in Week 8, lining up in the backfield and running some deep routes. The Jets are making it a point to immediately get the ball into his hands.

Fantasy Tip: Expect those snap-count totals to rise in the coming weeks as Harvin is ingratiated into the offense some more. He only costs $4,800 (9.6% of cap) in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. If Michael Vick can get him the ball more often, Harvin could be a steal.

Jets | Percy Harvin totals 50 yards in debut

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 13:45:38 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin ran four times for 28 yards in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, and he added three receptions for 22 yards in his team debut.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin still has to learn the playbook, and the quarterback situation is certainly up in the air which does not help matters. FantasyScore players will want to steer far clear of any Jets players for the time being until the offense starts to show more consistency.

Jets | Percy Harvin seeing shorter targets

Thu, 23 Oct 2014 16:35:51 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin had just 3.08 yards per target through the air this year with the Seattle Seahawks, compared to 9.49 yards per target in his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin has been extremely inconsistent both in fake football and in real football. He's a dynamic playmaker and may be used more downfield in New York, though he's still a risky start until we see how the Jets use him.

Jets | Percy Harvin won't play 50 snaps

Wed, 22 Oct 2014 11:18:28 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin won't play 50 snaps in his debut with the team in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin will have a limited role on offense, and he may return punts against the Bills. In that case, he should be avoided at FantasyScore for a price of $5,500 (11.0% of cap).

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 11:24:09 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin's role on offense will depend on how fast he can learn the playbook, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan said Harvin will return kicks for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin likely will be eased into the offense, so owners should lower their expectations on him for the time being. Harvin could be a flex option on FantasyScore depending on his price tag.

Jets | Percy Harvin gets fresh slate

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 17:12:41 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin is onto his third NFL team, and he looks for more success than with the Seattle Seahawks. In Minnesota, he averaged 7.3 targets per game with 61.2 receiving yards per game and 34.2 yards per game after the catch (YAC). He ranked sixth in YAC. In Seattle, he managed just 4.5 targets per game, with only 25.0 receiving yards per game, 17.0 yards per catch and he ranked 99th in the league in YAC.

Fantasy Tip: The receiver-starved Jets will likely try to use him early and often, but he has to learn a new playbook. Plus, his owners lose him this week, because the Jets already played, and then Harvin will have another bye in Week 11. He has a downgrade at the quarterback position and moves to a cold-weather city. Fantasy owners will clearly not be happy with the move.

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin was traded by the Seattle Seahawks in part because he had anger issues while with the Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Harvin's move to the Jets probable will not have much of an impact on his fantasy value. Owners could also consider holding off on starting him until they see how he is used in the Jets' offense.

Jets | Acquire Percy Harvin

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 14:43:43 -0700

The New York Jets acquired WR Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks Friday, Oct. 17, for a conditional draft pick.

Fantasy Tip: Maybe the change in scenery will be good for Harvin, who has been frustrating fantasy owners in the early part of the year. The Jets may need to get creative in how they use Harvin, and it may take some time for him to get up to speed on the new offense. His FantasyScore price has been pretty reasonable, so there is profit potential if he becomes heavily involved in the Jets offense. In Seattle, this could boost the value of Doug Baldwin, and Ricardo Lockette and Jermaine Kearse could see increased work.

Seahawks | Hawks want to use Percy Harvin deep

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 09:33:27 -0700

Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin has a great ability to turn short plays into big gains, and his speed makes him a home run threat every time he touches the ball, which is why the team plans to utilize him downfield more often. However, the deep ball never has been part of Harvin's repertoire in the NFL; he's mainly been used as a quick-hit receiver and non-traditional running back. He's caught half of his 22 catches behind the line of scrimmage this year, and he's averaging just six yards per catch, the lowest of any receiver with at least five catches. Of the 434 passes intended for Harvin in his career, only 36 have gone for more than 21 yards, according to STATS Inc. Seattle also likes to use Harvin as a decoy to create mismatches elsewhere on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Opponents are sending a lot of attention Harvin's way when he receives the ball near the line of scrimmage. That's how Dallas was effective at stopping him last week. Until the Seahawks effectively get the ball to him deeper down the field, it may be tough for him to put up big fantasy numbers. Consider Harvin ($6,500; 13.0% of cap) a flex option against the St. Louis Rams.
