Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew has shown improved hands in training camp. He also improved his drop rate from 13.24 percent of catchable targets to 8.89 percent last season.
Fantasy Tip: Pettigrew is expected to be used more as a blocker this season and isn't a good fantasy target.

Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew and the other tight ends have split time between working on the offensive line and working with the pass-catching receivers and running backs catching passes. Pettigrew worked with the line while TEs Eric Ebron and Joseph Fauria worked on catching passes Tuesday, July 29. "We rotate and go down there during periods," Pettigrew said. "We have five guys here, why not split up and have some guys down there and some guys down here." Pettigrew said this helps his blocking fundamentals, and aids Ebron and Fauria as well.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron said in a Tuesday, July 8 interview that fans should expect an "awful lot" of two-tight end sets this season. Ebron and TEs Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria figure to split time at the position.

Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew said he is willing to block more often this upcoming season if he helps the team win.
Fri, 13 Jun 2014 16:23:35 -0700
Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron, the team's first-round pick, is expected to battle TE Brandon Pettigrew for playing time in offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's offense. Ebron could play a role similar to TE Jimmy Graham in the New Orleans Saints offense, and the Lions could use plenty of two tight end sets.
Fantasy Tip: Ebron has nice upside in what should continue to be a high-flying aerial offense. However, he must improve his blocking in order to improve all around, and he'll compete for looks with Pettigrew. Draft Ebron as your TE2 with upside.

The Detroit Lions selected North Carolina TE Eric Ebron with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Fantasy Tip: As if the Lions needed another offensive weapon.... He'll often line up as a wideout and, despite the presence of Brandon Pettigrew and Joseph Fauria, Ebron has starter potential in fantasy leagues. He may be overdrafted, though, especially if Detroit doesn't clear target space for him at the position before the season starts. Matthew Stafford remains a top-10 fake-football QB.

The New York Jets had interest in TE Brandon Pettigrew before he re-signed with the Detroit Lions. The Jets were one of three teams interested but did not offer him a contract.
Fri, 14 Mar 2014 05:21:42 -0700
The Detroit Lions re-signed free-agent TE Brandon Pettigrew to a four-year, $16 million deal that includes $8 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Tip: Pettigrew had a down year last year with 41 catches for 416 yards and two touchdowns. The team used him to block, as they spread out their receivers and utilized their backs more. They could still feature him at times, and he makes for a serviceable TE2 next year.
