Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin downgraded to out

Sat, 03 Dec 2016 10:06:44 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was downgraded from questionable to out Saturday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: That is good news for owners of Tyreek Hill against Atlanta. He is a sound WR2 in PPR and a No. 3 or flex in standard scoring.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin listed as questionable

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 12:47:42 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was limited all week in practice and is questionable for Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has been sidelined since Week 9 and this week marked his first practices since the injury, so it is a good bet he will be on a snap count in this game if he plays. Tyreek Hill should have at least one more week as the Chiefs' top option at receiver and faces a secondary that lost top corner Desmond Trufant for the season earlier this week. Hill is a solid WR3 this week with WR2 upside.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin logs limited practice

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 17:14:57 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) remained a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin appears on track to return in Week 13 after missing a couple of games. He has underwhelmed even when healthy, but with a potential shootout with Atlanta on tap, Maclin could be worth a look as a flex option.

Chiefs | Limited practice for Jeremy Maclin

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 15:40:11 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has missed the last two weeks with this groin ailment, so he may not be fully out of the woods yet. If he's ready to return he'll return to a great matchup in what could be a shootout with the Atlanta Falcons. Use caution, though, Maclin could be eased back into things.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin will not play Week 12

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 12:52:37 -0800

Updating a previous story, Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) has been ruled out for Week 12 versus the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin will miss his third consecutive game, although he was doing a whole lot for his owners prior to going down. Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley and Albert Wilson will all see significant snaps as a result, but none are worth using against Denver's stout secondary. Spencer Ware and Travis Kelce are the only Chiefs worth considering in fantasy for this Sunday night affair.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin still not practicing

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 12:27:52 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) did not practice Friday, Nov. 25, and appears likely to miss his third consecutive game in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin obviously hasn't made much progress since aggravating a groin injury in Week 9 and should be considered week-to-week at this point. Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley and Albert Wilson will continue to get the bulk of the reps at receiver, not that it matters this week against the Broncos' vaunted secondary; none of the three are worth starting in fantasy. Spencer Ware and Travis Kelce will need to have big games if Kansas City hopes to muster any offense Sunday night.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin sidelined

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 15:06:19 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Come this weekend, Maclin will not have played in nearly a month, if he does play this weekend. And if he is active, he'll be up against arguably the best secondary in the NFL. If Maclin is active then he'll probably be best suited as a flex option.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin ruled out

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 17:09:26 -0800

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) has been ruled out for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Tyreek Hill should have a bigger role in the passing game with Maclin out of the lineup. He has recorded at least 89 yards in two of the last three games and has two touchdowns in his last four games. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in leagues.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin misses another practice

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 10:36:13 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin did not practice at all this week, making it a virtual certainty he will sit out a second straight game. Tyreek Hill finished with 10 catches on 13 targets in his absence last week, so he is the clear favorite to benefit the most statistically from Maclin's absence, especially against a poor Tampa Bay Bucs' secondary. Hill should be considered a WR3 with upside in all formats in Week 11.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin to miss another practice

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 10:27:36 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin was not able to play in Week 10 and probably will miss another game if he is not able to practice Friday, Nov. 18. Owners in all leagues should look for other options to use in their lineups. Tyreek Hill has had a big role in the passing game over the last few weeks with Maclin sidelined and can be a solid option for owners.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin out of practice

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 09:55:02 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) is out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a decent matchup if Maclin can make it back. However, he's questionable to play in Week 11, but he's a flex candidate if he returns.

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 13:47:45 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston (knee), DL Jaye Howard (hip) and WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) are all listed as out for Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers. LB Tamba Hali (knee) did not practice Friday, Nov. 11, but is expected to still play Sunday. DB D.J. White (hand) was limited for a third straight day and is doubtful to play, while LB Derrick Johnson (hamstring) was limited and has a questionable tag. WR Chris Conley (quadriceps) and QB Nick Foles (elbow) practiced in full and are expected to be available.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin to sit Week 10

Fri, 11 Nov 2016 13:22:54 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) has been ruled out for Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has been a disappointment in fantasy this season, although Alex Smith likely deserves as much blame as he does for that. Travis Kelce should be a target hog in Week 10, while Tyreek Hill should receiver a bump in targets as well. Hill is worth a look in deeper leagues as Kansas City is drawing up ways to get the ball in his hands on a weekly basis.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin to sit again

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 10:02:20 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It is looking like Maclin will not be able to play this week, but owners will need to look for an update on his status later in the week. Maclin should be avoided in all leagues, but Albert Wilson could be a flex option in deeper leagues since he would see more targets if Maclin sits.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin to miss practice

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 11:29:26 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin aggravated his groin injury in the last game, so his status for Week 10 is uncertain at this point. Owners should monitor the situation during the week but may want to look for other options to use in their lineups.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin uncertain for Week 10

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 11:12:49 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) is being considered day-to-day, according to head coach Andy Reid, who admitted Maclin could conceivably miss more time.

Fantasy Tip: Alex Smith is expected back, but he could easily be without his top running back (Spencer Ware) and top receiver (Maclin). Their absence(s) should result in a high target total for Travis Kelce and likely rookie Tyreek Hill. Obviously, it would also make the Carolina Panthers defense/special teams unit a very savvy play as well.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin leaves early

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 10:16:45 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) left the team's Week 9 game early because of a groin injury.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin entered the game with a groin injury, so there is a chance that he does not return. He has posted decent numbers this season and can be a No. 3 receiver when healthy, but owners will need to keep an eye on the situation.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin active for Week 9

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 08:54:32 -0800

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) is active for Week 9's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has good chemistry with QB Nick Foles dating back to their days with the Philadelphia Eagles, so don't be surprised if he has a big game Sunday afternoon. He should be considered as a WR2 or WR3 in all fantasy formats.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin likely to play

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 06:08:33 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) is expected to play in Week 9's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin was held out of practice as a precautionary measure Thursday, Nov. 3, but participated on a limited basis Friday, Nov. 4. He is an integral part of Kansas City's passing game and should be viewed as a WR2 or WR3 in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Chiefs | Questionable tag for Jeremy Maclin

Fri, 04 Nov 2016 16:31:19 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin was added to the injury report during the week, so owners will need to check the inactive list to see if he will play. He will be a main part of the passing game if he plays and can be a No. 2 or a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) will not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Chiefs | Four grabs for Jeremy Maclin

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 19:28:58 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin posted four receptions for 40 yards in the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints and he was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has 49 or fewer yards in three of his past four outings, and he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. He is still worth keeping on a fantasy roster, but treat him as more of a WR3 heading into Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Chiefs| Jeremy Maclin off to slow start

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 14:34:30 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin has been targeted 37 times so far this season, but it has translated to just 20 catches for 244 yards and one touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin is barely a top-40 fantasy wide receiver through the first quarter of the season. He's being given the opportunities, but he's hardly catching 50 percent of his passes. When he does catch those passes, they aren't for many yards. This is the week for Maclin to rebound, though. He and the Chiefs face an Oakland Raiders defense that has allowed a league-high 858 yards and six touchdowns to receivers.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin quiet in Week 3

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 21:00:47 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin was targeted seven times in Week 3 against the New York Jets, but he managed four catches for 35 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin is averaging five receptions per game this season, which is decent in PPR leagues. However, his yardage total was a season low, and he hasn't found the end zone since the opener. He should be treated as a WR3 in most standard leagues until he gets untracked.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin misses practice Thursday

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 15:14:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (personal) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15, for personal reasons.

Fantasy Tip: Details were not disclosed, but Maclin doesn't seem to be ailing physically. He's good to go for Sunday and should be started as a No. 2 wide receiver against a Houston Texans defense that allowed 196 yards to receivers last week -- eighth most in the league.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin checked for concussion

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 14:31:01 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (head) will be evaluated for a concussion after taking a hit in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 1 game.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation over the next day or two because Maclin could be questionable for Week 2 if he is dealing with a concussion. He posted 63 receiving yards and one touchdown in Week 1 and is a weekly starting option when he is healthy.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin sits out Wednesday

Wed, 17 Aug 2016 12:55:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 17, because of a groin injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Maclin will be able to return to practice in the near future. He recorded 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns in 2015 and should be the No. 1 receiver for the Chiefs again this season. Maclin probably will be a fine No. 2 wide receiver for most fantasy owners.

Chiefs | Young WRs working with Jeremy Maclin

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:05:44 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin invited WR Chris Conley to work out with him at the team's training facility in the offseason. WR Albert Wilson joined them to lift weights, watch film and work on route concepts four days a week until the team's offseason workout program in mid-April. Conley and Wilson are the team's No. 2 and 3 receivers, and trying to hold off newcomers WR Rod Streater and WR Tyreek Hill.

Fantasy Tip: Conley and Wilson are ready to take a big step forward in 2016, and both are worth looks as middle- to late-round fliers in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. They could each serve as useful WR3/4 or flex options, and their work ethic is certainly encouraging.

Chiefs | KC receiver depth still unsettled

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:43:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Albert Wilson, Chris Conley, Rod Streater, De'Anthony Thomas and Tyreek Hill will all compete for playing time behind WR Jeremy Maclin. Head coach Andy Reid liked what he saw from Wilson and Conley during offseason workouts, though.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson and Conley probably have an inside edge with their experience and familiarity with the system. Maclin is really the only Chiefs receiver with any real fantasy value, but Wilson and Conley are worth a look as a WR5.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin suffers ankle injury

Thu, 26 May 2016 12:27:55 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) injured his ankle in practice Thursday, May 26, according to head coach Andy Reid. Reid said Maclin's injury is of no concern, though.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin should be fine. He had a career year in his first season with the Chiefs, catching a career-high 87 passes (124 targets) for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. He should remain a focal point in KC's offense yet again as their No. 1 receiver. Maclin is a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2.

Chiefs | KC appealing Jeremy Maclin penalties

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 13:51:54 -0700

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially filed their appeal against the NFL's tampering rule, according to chairman Clark Hunt. The Chiefs were stripped of two draft picks and were fined for allegedly violating the league's anti-tampering policy in last year's pursuit of WR Jeremy Maclin during free agency. The two draft picks the Chiefs have lost are this year's third-round pick and next year's sixth-round pick.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin was superb in his first season with the Chiefs, illegally tampering or not. He tallied 87 catches for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. He'll be Kansas City's top wide out again in 2016 and is in WR2 territory.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) finished with two catches on three targets for 23 yards in a 27-20 loss to the New England Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin played through a high-ankle sprain, but he wasn't effective. Overall, his first year in Kansas City was a solid one, and he should be considered a reliable WR2 heading into next season.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin active

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 12:11:23 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) is active Saturday, Jan. 16, against the New England Patriots, despite dealing with a high-ankle sprain.

Fantasy Tip: This is somewhat of a surprise as Maclin ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) was supposedly facing an uphill battle to play today. Just how involved he'll be remains to be seen, though, and he could end up playing a decoy role. Plug him into your FantasyScore lineups at your own risk.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin may not be able to play

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 07:00:50 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) would like to play in the divisional round playoff game against the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 16, but is facing an uphill battle at this point. Maclin has been resting his ankle this week but wants to see how it feels Saturday before making a decision.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Maclin ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) will be able to play but should have other options ready in case he is ruled out. Travis Kelce ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) could be the main target against the Patriots if Maclin misses the game and could be a decent fantasy option.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin questionable

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 08:55:34 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) is questionable for the divisional game against the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: With a high ankle sprain, it's a stretch to think he'll play or be anything more than limited. Chris Conley ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is a midrange flyer worth consideration on FantasyScore.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin misses practice

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 14:20:44 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Jan. 14. He has already been ruled a game-time decision.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) hasn't practiced yet this week, aside from some individual drills earlier today. If he isn't able to take the field then Chris Conley ($4,500, 9.0%) and Albert Wilson ($3,600, 7.2%) will receive an uptick in value, but neither is worth writing home about this week.

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 14:13:32 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) will be a game-time decision in the divisional round against the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 16, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) is much too risky to use in daily lineups, even if he's active. He would likely draw Malcolm Butler if he plays. Albert Wilson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is a sleeper worth considering, and Travis Kelce ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) is definitely worth paying up for.

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 11:15:14 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) did some individual work early in practice Thursday, Jan. 14, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Fantasy Tip: He still has a ways to go before we're convinced he's fit to go. Chris Conley ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has some upside against the New England Patriots on FantasyScore if Maclin can't go.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin making progress

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 14:25:25 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, Jan. 12, but "he's making good progress," according to head coach Andy Reid. Maclin was diagnosed with a "mild" high ankle sprain. Reid said he wouldn't have a problem with Maclin playing this weekend if he doesn't practice.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin will likely be questionable this week and is one to be avoided on FantasyScore against the New England Patriots, since he'll likely be hobbled if he does suit up. Look at Travis Kelce and Albert Wilson in daily formats, especially if Maclin is inactive.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin not practicing

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 10:39:47 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (ankle) had his right ankle wrapped and isn't practicing Tuesday, Jan. 12. However, he was moving around well for a player dealing with a high ankle sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin is facing an uphill battle to be ready and effective in the divisional round against the New England Patriots. For that reason he's already extremely risky on FantasyScore. Check back later in the week for updates on Maclin's chances of playing. If he sits, both Travis Kelce and Albert Wilson will see their roles increase in the passing game.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (knee, ankle) is feeling more pain in his ankle than in his knee Sunday, Jan. 10, according to head coach Andy Reid. Reid said he has not received the results of Maclin's MRI at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update over the next few days to see if Maclin has a chance to play against the New England Patriots. He will be a risky option for owners on FantasyScore if he is active, so owners may want to consider other options.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin has ACL injury

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 20:13:18 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament Saturday, Jan. 9, but it is not definitive that it is a tear, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It still remains to be seen if Maclin tore his ACL again, but it isn't looking good for his chances to play in the divisional round next weekend.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin to have MRI

Sat, 09 Jan 2016 16:57:49 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) will have an MRI Sunday, Jan. 10, and head coach Andy Reid said Maclin has a strained right knee.

Fantasy Tip: We'll know more after the MRI, but the feeling is that it may be more than a strain. Chris Conley could be a low-end flyer worth taking on FantasyScore in the divisional round.
