St. Louis Rams OT Jason Smith has agreed to a paycut, with his base salary for 2012 now fully guaranteed at $4 million for skill, injury and cap. Smith also will receive a $500,000 roster bonus.

St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead said the team is looking forward to having OT Jason Smith take part in their offseason workouts and are not thinking about releasing him at this point. Head coach Jeff Fisher said he believes Smith can return to play and stay healthy.

St. Louis Rams OT Jason Smith will be released, unless he agrees to a dramatic pay cut, according to a league source. Smith is due to earn a base salary of $10 million in 2012. With only $1 million of it guaranteed, the Rams will not hesitate to release Smith if he is not open to restructuring.

The St. Louis Rams is expected to try to restructure the contracts of C Jason Brown and OT Jason Smith this offseason. Brown is scheduled to count $7.2 million against the salary cap next season while Smith is scheduled to count $13.3 million against the cap.

St. Louis Rams OT Jason Smith (neck, concussion) likely will not play in Week 12 and could be placed on Injured Reserve because he continues to symptoms from his concussion. Smith rode a stationary bike Monday, Nov. 21, but experience symptoms when he got to 50 percent exertion.
