NASCAR elected five new members into the Hall of Fame Wednesday, May 23, including driver Rusty Wallace, driver Leonard Wood, driver Herb Thomas, driver/owner Cotton Owens and driver Buck Baker.

SceneDaily.com reports 5-Hour Energy Extra Strength has expanded its sponsorship to Rusty Wallace Racing's Nationwide Series team. The brand has been sponsoring the team's No. 66 car driven by Steve Wallace and will also sponsor driver Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 Chevrolet in 13 races this year. The sponsorship for the No. 62 car will debut at Talladega Superspeedway April 25 and will end at Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 21. Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.

Rea White, of SceneDaily.com, reports Rusty Wallace Racing driver Brendan Gaughan will drive the No. 62 Chevrolet full time in the 2009 Nationwide Series. South Point Hotel and Spa will serve as the primary sponsor for the car. Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.

Lee Montgomery, of SceneDaily.com, reports 5-Hour Energy will be the primary sponsor for Rusty Wallace Racing for 10 races on the team's No. 66 Nationwide Series car in 2009. The brand will also be an associate sponsor in the remaining 25 Nationwide races next year.

The Associated Press reports Dale Earnhardt Inc. has not contacted retired NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace about possibly driving for the team next season, according to president Max Siegel.

Updating a previous report, SceneDaily.com reports retired NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace denied a report that he is considering a comeback to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2009. "While any rumors like this are certainly flattering, they're untrue. I have a long-term commitment to ABC and ESPN, and I really love what I'm doing right now," Wallace said.

The Associated Press reports retired NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace is reportedly considering coming out of retirement and racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2009. Wallace retired after the 2005 season.
