Braves | Freddie Freeman homers twice Friday

Fri, 20 May 2016 19:43:35 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI against the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman had collected just five hits in his previous 29 at-bats before connecting for his first homer of the game in the third inning. His ninth-inning blast gave him the seventh multihomer game of his career. This could be the start of Freeman breaking out of his slump, so he's worth considering for daily fantasy lineups.

Braves | Freddie Freeman heating up

Thu, 12 May 2016 12:49:39 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman has a .348 batting average and a .420 on-base percentage through his past 23 games with six doubles and five home runs.

Fantasy Tip: Between the concerns surrounding his wrist injury and weak supporting cast, Freeman's fantasy stock dropped leading into the season, and he was widely available well into the middle rounds. Don't expect him to pile on the runs or RBI, but Freeman should approach 25 home runs with a plus-average and is a viable starter at first base in all fantasy formats.

Braves | Two more hits for Freddie Freeman

Fri, 06 May 2016 20:56:30 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base in a 7-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, May 6, and he has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has six multi-hit games during the same stretch, raising his average from .200 to .273. His bat is coming to life to the point where he should be starting in most formats, but Atlanta's suspect lineup is going to continue to limit his RBI chances and his upside.

Braves | Freddie Freeman back up to three

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 08:32:26 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman was moved back into the three-hole Friday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has been out of the third spot since Sunday, but he has turned it on this week. He has a .393-1-2 line over the last seven days. He's facing lefty Jon Lester today, which cools his value a bit, but he's still a midrange option today.

Braves | Freddie Freeman ends HR drought

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 21:33:35 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run with two run scored Wednesday, April 27, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: It was Freeman's first homer since opening day. This is more what fantasy owners expected to see from Freeman. His batting average is up to .219, which isn't great, but he is slowly starting to round into form. Be patient.

Braves | Freddie Freeman hitting cleanup

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 12:07:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is hitting fourth Tuesday, April 26, against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman had been hitting third, but in the past week he had a .241 average and only one run batted in. Adonis Garcia is hitting .360 and has moved up to the third spot. Freeman is slowly getting untracked and should start hitting soon. He had a .276-18-66 line last season. For now, be wary of Freeman in your fantasy lineup.

Braves | Freddie Freeman dropped in order

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 13:48:38 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is being dropped to No. 6 in the batting order against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman went 0-for-4 Sunday and is hitting only .177 (11-for-62) on the season, and he still hasn't homered since his first at-bat on opening day. His slow start has become a real concern now, especially after having offseason wrist surgery. Sit tight if you own him. He should be able to rebound if he's healthy, but the fact he hits in a weak lineup doesn't give much hope for those considering buying low.

Braves | Freddie Freeman still scuffling

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 22:32:49 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts Friday, April 22, against the New York Mets, as he continues to struggle with a .167 batting average.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has just one multi-hit game through his first 15 outings, and he has struck out 18 times through 53 at-bats. Fantasy owners in seasonal formats need to stick it out, as he will start hitting, but he has now played 14 straight games without a home run since his clout on opening day.

Braves | Freddie Freeman finds mechanical flaw

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 08:19:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman found a flaw in his swing, and he has been tweaking his mechanics with hitting coach Kevin Seitzer. "I haven't been loading," Freeman said, referring to the segment of his swing just before he brings the bat forward. "It's just been kind of stepping into the ball instead of loading and getting my (front) foot down. We've kind of known it was there and trying to work on it. I feel great up there, just not getting any results."

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is hitting just .163 in 49 at-bats to open the season. That's bound to improve, but he doesn't have any protection in the lineup. So we may not see a return to his .319-23-109 ways of 2013. However, he's a proven hitter, and if you can acquire him on the cheap, it might behoove you to do so.

Braves | Freddie Freeman has mechanical issues

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 10:44:52 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman started the season off slow, rebounded in a series against the Miami Marlins and went 1-for-9, including four strikeouts Wednesday, April 20. His average entering Thursday, April 21, was .156 (7-for-45) with nine walks, 15 strikeouts and a .321 on-base percentage. Hitting coach Kevin Seitzer said he was working on some mechanical issues with Freeman. Seitzer thinks it's just a couple easy fixes to Freeman's swing.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman's wrist was the big concern this offseason and in spring training after having surgery. Is it still bothering him? It's worth asking, and perhaps it has led to some mechanical glitches for the slugger. Those who own him have to be concerned. However, it remains early, and he could turn things around quickly. Freeman's power growth was real last year, so if he can get on track he can still produce for his owners.
