Braves | Freddie Freeman leaves early

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 18:12:10 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (oblique) left the game Monday, Aug. 3, against the San Francisco Giants due to a right oblique injury. He is considered day to day.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players, you know the drill. At least it wasn't an aggravation of the wrist injury which forced him out for several weeks. Avoid using Freeman ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in two full games without any lingering discomfort.

Braves | Freddie Freeman limited in return

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:48:04 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) appeared as a pinch hitter and flied out in the seventh inning of a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) was activated prior to the game, but until he is back in the starting lineup and swinging the bat well, you can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore.

Braves | Freddie Freeman activated

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 16:04:29 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is not in the lineup because he hasn't arrived in St. Louis in time. He could be in Sunday. The team wanted him to stay on a rehab assignment until Thursday, but they brought him back early after Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe were traded. Give him a game or two to kick off the rust.

Braves | Freddie Freeman begins rehab assignment

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:09:58 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) went 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run and three RBI with the Gulf Coast League Braves Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) could rejoin the Braves sooner than later now that he has been cleared to return to the diamond. He is a second-tier first baseman in all fantasy formats, and should be returned to seasonal lineups immediately upon his arrival back with the big club. FantasyScore players shouldn't rule out being a little more patient allowing him to readjust to the big leagues.

Braves | Freddie Freeman takes BP

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 20:24:13 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) took live batting practice Tuesday, July 21, for the first time since suffering a bruised right wrist in mid-June. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Freeman will likely head to the team's spring training facility in Orlando Wednesday, July 22. He might be able to return for a four-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies starting July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is rounding third and heading for home in his rehab, but FantasyScore players will still want to avoid him until he can officially make it back to the big club and prove his health in a full game or two without any lingering effects of his injury.

Braves | Freddie Freeman feeling good

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 13:20:20 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) felt good while hitting off a tee and hitting soft toss Monday, July 20. Freeman could begin a rehab assignment in the next day or two.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) likely will have to play multiple rehab games before he returns, but it appears he could be back at some point in the next few weeks. It may take him some time to return to his pre-injury form, but he should be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Braves | Freddie Freeman going on rehab assignment

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 13:50:28 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) could start his rehab assignment Sunday, July 19, or Monday, July 20, but he could still be 10 days or more from returning to the Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Don't get your hopes up if you own Freeman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap). The Braves expect him to return sometime in August, as he hasn't healed as hoped, and his injury is more severe than initially thought. Wrist and hand injuries can have big negative impacts on a hitter's power stroke, too, so Freeman could underwhelm in the second half despite his solid first half.

Braves | Freddie Freeman has ligament inflammation

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 09:04:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) is dealing with severe tendon and ligament inflammation in his wrist, and the Braves aren't expecting him to return now until August. "He dinged it, played four or five days with it, and we have him a few days off. We gave him an injection and thought he would be back in two or three days but it was no better. We did further tests and found it was more serious than we thought," president John Hart said. Freeman also received a platelet-rich plasma injection.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners of Freeman ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) will have to be a little bit more patient with him. It's also worrisome that his wrist injury could affect his power stroke for the remainder of the season, so that's worth watching. You'll definitely want to throw him back into your starting lineups immediately after his return, though.
