Red Sox | Jose Iglesias recalled

The Boston Red Sox recalled SS Jose Iglesias from Triple-A Pawtucket Tuesday, May 1, and optioned RP Junichi Tazawa to Pawtucket in a corresponding move. Iglesias was recalled as an infield backup with 3B Kevin Youkilis (back) ailing. The team is unsure if Youkilis will go on the disabled list. It seems as though Iglesias' stay will be brief, as the BoSox could add SP Aaron Cook Wednesday, May 2.

The Boston Red Sox have sent RP Mark Melancon to Triple-A Pawtucket. In a corresponding move, the team recalled RP Junichi Tazawa from Pawtucket.

The Boston Red Sox optioned C Luis Exposito, P Junichi Tazawa and SP Clayton Mortensen to Triple-A Pawtucket. They also reassigned OF Alex Hassan, C Max St. Pierre, P Brandon Duckworth and RP Jesse Carlson to minor league camp.

The Boston Red Sox signed Ps Michael Bowden, Drake Britton, Christopher Carpenter, Felix Doubront, Mark Melancon, Clayton Mortensen, Stolmy Pimentel and Junichi Tazawa, Cs Luis Exposito and Ryan Lavarnway, INFs Lars Anderson, Will Middlebrooks and Oscar Tejeda and OFs Ryan Kalish, Che-Hsuan Lin and Darnell McDonald to one-year deals for the 2012 season Friday, March 9. The team will pay all of them the league minimum at $480,000.
