The Boston Red Sox recalled 1B Lars Anderson, OF Joey Gathright, SS Jose Iglesias, RP Trever Miller and RP Junichi Tazawa Tuesday, Sept. 13. IF Nate Spears was designated for assignment and OF J.D. Drew (finger) was put on the 60-day disabled list in corresponding moves.

The Boston Red Sox activated SP Junichi Tazawa (elbow) from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Double-A Portland Monday, June 27. In a corresponding move, the team moved RP Rich Hill (elbow) to the 60-day DL.

Boston Red Sox SP Junichi Tazawa (elbow) threw 27 pitches in a simulated game in extended spring training over the weekend, WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports. He retired all eight batters and struck out three of them. His fastball reached 89 mph.
